Hello,
Just signed up... and things look pretty good around here.
Last night I was just posting "This is like waiting for the ball to drop in Time Square" to the Classic Board, and poof the IMDb Message Boards were gone!
It was exactly 7:23 pm EST.
Hope this will be a better forum for everyone for some time to come.

I deleted all my LINKS to the boards yesterday afternoon. The way they were working ("D'oh"), I had a feeling the Boards were going to disappear any second. This AM, I deleted my account. I want nothing more to do with them. This place looks good. We lived before IMDB, and we will live after. It's their loss. Life goes on.....

Stumbled in after drowning my sorrows. Good to see familiar faces. It's great to see your name here, Matt. A tough week for me for reasons unrelated to the IMDB message boards closure, which only makes it worse. This past afternoon was a save for me so my life feels better in general, yet the loss of the IMDB boards is really starting to sink in. It's not depression exactly, more like loss, loss, loss. So much is gone. Forever. Quite frankly, I thought the site and its message boards would outlive me. Seriously. It's not that I'm that old, I'm not, but that they were such an institution for movie lovers everywhere, from literally all over the worl

I was a lurker on IMBD. I never posted but I loved reading what everyone had to say about films and TV on there. The board was so helpful in finding movies and TV shows I had not been able to see in ages. I was so upset to see the boards close down so I was thrilled to find this board!

I was LMayberry-2 since 1999, but coming here, I wound up having to revert to my original TelevisionWithout Pity ID, I used before I was banned there during what became the "Night Five" purge on their "West Wing" Board. I was in good company, as the show's creator, Aaron Sorkin, was tossed out at the same time.
I am a long time Classic Movie Fan and started collecting books on film when I was 10 years old, so I have been at this more than fifty years.
My picture is me from a few years ago. I was into photography, soI have very few pictures of myself. This picture was taken by actor William Duffy, who was part of the team of "Ed & Larry" on TWW. He asked to see my digital camera, which were rare in those days. The next thing I know, he called over his co-star, and I have a picture to remember.

I wish people would use their old IMDB names but a rose by any another name (etc.) Those final days were awful, weren't they. I'm still getting over it. So many people, I fear, I shall never be in contact with again. Fortunately, you are not one of them.

So many posters that we knew, now I fear we may never be in touch with most of them again. Unfortunately, the paranoia about signing on to different forums didn't help any and scared some posters away, maybe for good. I saved the 'Please sign the CFB Guestbook' thread and may post it on this forum soon so that we can all share memories of a not-so-distant past.

Thanks, Mike. I'm a bit disappointed by the slow action from ex-IMDB people but they have their reasons, and I suspect that they range from mourning to trying out other sites. A lot of them are registered but only a relatively small number of us are active.
Have you tried any of the others? I'm at one other, passed on the one with a name similar to this one. We've got a good group here and people are reasonably well behaved.

I suspect that quite a few of the regulars have simply moved on, they weren't posting as much and the end of the boards coincided with their dwindling interest. I do hope that some of the regulars would re-consider and eventually join us. There is still so much to learn and share, it would be disappointing if the knowledge and expertise held by so many members of the CFB would not continue.

We are only in Day #4 following the Great Exodus. I am still hopeful that more of that old gang of ours will find their way over here, while some new faces will be welcomed and will make their presence felt in positive interaction.
As my four Garth Girls used to sing when they were Brownies: 'Make new friends, keep the old -- one is silver and the other's gold.'
