Easily the most frightening film I have ever seen. So much so that it was not a fun experience. I don't care to ever see it again. But I have to admit it is an incredibly well crafted film. 10/10

9/10. It's a little slow moving at first, but it's excellent once the demon really starts taking over.

A classic, one of the first of its kind. My father describes it as one of those movies that were the first to offer something never been shown before. A genuine scare. Perhaps it's dated for the current viewer, but at the time it was quite a shocker. So a 9 for me.

Another tricky one because it's nearly impossible to think The Exorcist without all of its hype. B+ & I think its pedestal hurts it.

It's a classic, culturally significant achievement in cinema. Or did you just see it a year ago and decide it wasn't as gripping as Saw Part Seventeen or the ninth Paranormal Activity movie?

I saw it during its remastered theatrical re-release, late 90's/early 00's... I think I was expecting The Godfather of horror films, instead it was 'just' a very well done yarn. Growing up in the 80's, the film's shock values alas don't do much to me.

Honestly, for it's time i can see how it was seen as scary, but these days, it's almost cheesy and not really scary at all, but that is just my opinion, i think it tends to get voted higher because of it's reputation and people looking back on how the remember the film
But again, just my opinion, much better films out there

7/10 the possession effects were a bit over the top. Then again I did watch it after having seen Beetlejuice and hearing my mom's story of seeing it in theaters on original release.

What did you rate it?I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I haven't seen The Exorcist yet. I really want to watch it. I'll probably watch it soon and I'll tell you what I think about it after I've seen it.

Along with The Shining, one of the two greatest horror film ever made.
