Seen Armored Saint last night and they were fantastic! As a fan of Anthrax as well it was great to see John Bush live, his voice is incredible.
Got Sonata Arctica on Saturday which is my most anticipated gig of the year! Supported by Thunderstone and Striker just makes it even better!

Sounds awesome. They opened for Queensryche last year so I got to check them out. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the Sonata Arctica show.

Unfortunately Striker had to pull out so disappointed not to see them. However Thunderstone played a longer set and they were very good. As for Sonata Arctica, they were phenomenal. In probably one of the smallest venues they've ever played in, in front of not a huge crowd, they gave their all and put on a great show.

I'm not familiar with Thunderstone or Striker, but sounds like the show went off really well.

I saw The Flaming Lips on Sunday. I've seen hundreds of shows over the years and they were the most trippy psychedelic show I've seen. It was a blast. I have been a fan since their first album Hear it Is when they were still a rock band. Wayne has definitely found his niche though. Sort of reimagining the band into a mélange of lush catchy acid drenched multi layered ambient tripcore insanity that was highly (pun intended) entertaining.
I have a friend who gets raving about Ghost. He has tickets for later this year. I'm not familiar with them. Is it a good show?

Funnily enough, I've heard quite a few people raving about Ghost as well. They've just done a UK tour but unfortunately didn't come to Ireland. By all accounts they are extremely worthwhile going to see. I've only listened to them casually, but seems like I should give them a more thorough listen to.

Yeah they're pretty good. I caught them at a festival last summer. And they're on the Iron Maiden tour so I'll see them there also

Glad you enjoyed the show. With so many gigs coming up I've had to pick and choose which ones to go to. Got Katatonia in a few weeks supported by two bands I'd never heard of before, The Great Discord and Ghost Bath. Don't think I'll be in a hurry to check the support out on first listen, that'll be a good time to hit the bar.

Oh cool Katatonia. Yeah I haven't heard of those bands either. I guess if you haven't, there's no way I would either. I've never checked those guys out yet. But Yeah I know what you mean having to pick and choose. I have Testament/Sepultura/Prong on Saturday, Hammerfall that coming Monday and then the big M3 rock festival later in the week. 3 day fest is gonna break my bank lol.

That's a fantastic week of rock/metal for you! Really jealous about Hammerfall, love them but never seen them live. Just looked up that M3 rock festival line up...Dokken and Ratt will be immense. I'll say enjoy the shows but you don't need me to tell you that haha.

THanks! Been a great week. I'm sorry to say that I don't remember much about the Testament set I saw Saturday. My buddy came down and I just drank way too much. But I did not make that same mistake at the Hammerfall show. They were awesome. They got about 75 minutes. It wasn't sold out but it was crowded. They were not the last band though much to my surprise. It was Delain. i was not familiar with them. I'm not putting them down or anything, but I"m just personally not a fan of female vocals in metal so the set didn't really do anything for me. A lot of people left.
The M3 fest will be tremendous as always. This will be year #9 for me. Unfortunately I had to skip day 3 which is the southern rock festival. But the pre party show and days 1 and 2 will be killer. I am a huge Dokken and Ratt fan. Also like a ton of the other bands.

Wow, I'm envious -- that M3 Fest line-up is fantastic! I love Dokken, but have only had a chance to see them once. Also love Winger, Kix and Ratt (seen them once).
Hawaii is a horrible place to live if you like rock -- they rarely book rock concerts nowadays. I end up going to the mainland to see bands. In recent years, I've seen Judas Priest (for my 2nd time), The Scorpions (for my 2nd and 3rd time), Queensryche (2 times), The Cult, Keith Urban (not rock but I love him).

Hey you've seen some great concerts at least, so you make the effort to go which is more than a lot of people do. But yeah the m3 fest kicked major ass! The Dokken set was disappointing because close to the end we all had to rush to the other stage for Ratt. And while we were leaving they were playing Dysfunctional. Why I have no idea. They skipped It's not love, tooth and nail, unchain the night and all these other hits. But I rocked my ass off for Ratt. That was such an amazing set. Winger was awesome as always. I like Kix but that was my 14th time seeing them so it was nothing new but I still enjoyed them. Also gotta give a shoutout for Great white and Danger Danger they were awesome. SO many great bands.
