I was a bit surprised when I found JWs had a fairly strong following in Britain, I thought it was mostly an American thing. There were enough of them in Nazi Germany to catch the attention of the Nazis. Persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Nazi Germany
Edit: fixed link In fact, there were more Jehovah’s Witnesses in Germany after the Nazi persecution, than before! Persecution of them has occurred in many countries, and it gets people curious about who JW’s are and what their views are.

Actually, you know what I find worse than people coming around to proselytize (be it for JWs, or FG, etc)? I'll tell you what is far, far worse: People walking their dogs, & letting them go do their business on other people's private property, & not cleaning up after them. That just pisses me right off!!!! I don't care if they let their dogs do it in a field or a forest, without cleaning up after them (places such as that are filled with animal waste anyway, & thereby would not make much difference), but, not bothering to clean up their dogs' messes on other people's property is just disgusting. I can't count the number of times, I have had to clean up my front yard from other people's dogs. I never even used to walk my dog on the sidewalk. I always walked on the streets (until we had to put her down from old age, this past summer), but, even then I cleaned up after her, after she did her business on the road. What say all of you?

Very inconsiderate, but I would hope that is only the rare dog owner. It's odd, but I can easily remember when no one would think to bag their dog's poop, and the very idea would be comically eccentric. I wonder just when and how it transitioned to become fully expected of every dog owner?

Since you've returned I hope you won't let clusium's first link ("Incredible Creed of the Jehovah's Witnesses") go unanswered. Certainly, you've every right to make a response.

We have legislation to that effect here! Fines apply. It is a local council issue, backed by State Law.

I don't think it is one dog owner. I think there are a few owners that are not picking up after their dogs on my street. One neighbour even installed a video camera over their garage & posted a sign warning people to pick up after their dogs do their business on the property.

Read this from a website describing an attempt to pass such laws in New York City in the 1970s: A quote from a New York’s Dog Owners’ Guild representative showed the angry response to the law that was echoed throughout the city – “Like the Jews of Nazi Germany, we citizens, including old infirm, and are being humiliated by being forced to pick up excrement from the gutter”.
I've heard of people invoking the Holocaust inappropriately, but this takes the cake.

Wow! How fucking 'entitled'! You have a dog, you look after it in ALL ways...end of story. Do New York Jews not change baby's diapers?

NO-ONE would have dared NOT pick up after their dog.

In the past forty years, I've had only one witness knock on my door. I guess I must be lucky. I think I bored them when I started talking about all the heinous deaths occurring in the Old Testament. They were the ones to terminate the conversation.
Once, a JW in my office started to proselytize. I told her that I wouldn't call her religion stupid unless she continued to call my religion stupid.
She said, "I never said your religion was stupid."
I said, "You obviously believe my religion is asinine or you wouldn't be trying to convert me.". We worked together for another year or so without any further word on religion.

Your link is full of inaccuracies. The ones easiest - and quickest - to verify, are the events surrounding the Russells’ divorce. Accusation of adultery? Lol. Divorce was not granted on those grounds. You'd think a “Rev. Dr.” would be more careful in what he wrote, regarding established facts.

People in my neighbourhood have absolutely no respect for their neighbours' private properties, whatsoever!!!!
