I gave it an eight. Watching it on the big screen was pretty cool. It's visually spectacular. But it's not really my kind of movie, even though it's probably my favorite out of that group. If I never saw it again, I wouldn't think much of it. But, I kind of liked it.
I did think it was a slick move of not putting one single female in the movie. No female speaking character, no female person in the background you could spot. Kind of like a reversal of "The Women", which I liked a lot. I guess you could say "Lawrence of Arabia" is a robust film. Maybe even homoerotic. Maybe if I saw it again, I would give it a nine. Probably never a ten, though.

7/10. Mostly for technical accomplishments. It appears to be a dumbed down and very inaccurate story about the real person. A definitive movie should focus on the facts, and not present him as something else. Short term ideological decisions in art create long term irrelevance.

I don't mind the film but it does drag on unnecessarily at times. I see it as a film buffs movie which I know sounds odd but when you start getting people praising the cinematography and lighting, and whatever than you know the film itself, in terms of story might not be that exciting.

Extraordinary film, superb cast led by Peter O'Toole as Lawrence. The cinematography and score both outstanding. Lived up to its epic reputation and then some.
10/10

Lawrence is just too weird. They could have done a spectacular normal movie but they had to make him eccentric. A movie with better characterization on a similar theme is THE LONG DUEL 1967. Trevor Howard is a Lawrence-tyoe character but not acting like a weirdo (except when pretending he is young enough to be romancing Charlotte Rampling!).

You can see how much this influenced Spielberg. Certain shots look exactly like Indiana Jones and it utilizes the “short oner” just as effectively as Spielberg so famously would a couple decades later.

I need to be in a proper mood for it, I gave it an 8/10 though it wouldn't make my top 300. Well, I watched it again today - rainy day off from work, absolutely nothing on life's tap to think about. A- Still an 8, & while the last hour or so becomes near run of the mill war & politics, the first 3/4s are so strong as to keep it ahead. I'm off to google some on its production dossiers & whatnot. (I suppose it would make my top 200 now that I think of it) A for me now. Sadly, in a way, the more I watch it, the less its mystique holds. I love the film, the story, the visuals, etc... I just miss its mythical place in my imagination prior to re-watches & familiarity. I was actually pondering if it would make my top 50 nowadays... & yet its 2nd half, I feel less enjoyment with T.E. Lawrence & his misfit spiraling. To the familiarity point for me, I can't believe how often the Moon appears in shots/reflections... it's very cool.

Excellent movie until the end. I just didn't buy his descent into madness. It works for me. At the end of the day, he's a hired military man/advisor, in the middle of nowhere with politics over his head, & ppl who he continually needs to convince. He seems to slowly grasp how little influence he truly has. A theme of the film is T.E. Lawrence is someone who does not who he truly is, & alas he seems to never have it figured out ever.
