Just like how Barbie has terrible projections. And how Elemental "Bombed"? Barbie earned 70.8 million dollars on its first day of release, The Marvels has made nowhere near that and will barely make half of Barbie's opening weekend was.

It earned that despite the terrible projections, which means all the doom and gloom counts for nothing in the end.

It earned that despite the terrible projections, which means all the doom and gloom counts for nothing in the end. Except that The Marvels didn't make anywhere near that for opening day. The trades have not updated any noticeable spike in box office numbers. It is looking to have an embarrassing opening weekend for the studio, and it may do worse than 2008's The Incredible Hulk (unadjusted for inflation).

It earned that despite the terrible projections, which means all the doom and gloom counts for nothing in the end. Bad news. Time to face reality, bud. And I'll tell you what: I thought it was fine. During the lead up to this movie, I was ripping it pretty good earlier in the thread, but I enjoyed it for what it was. But the box office results (and the fact that my theater was less than 1/3 capacity on opening night) suggest nobody cared about this movie. It isn't GOTG or Barbie or whatever wild comparison you're going to come up with. It's not an upper echelon MCU flick and it wasn't popular with audiences, and that's nobody's fault but the studio's. They've oversaturated the market and released more mediocre than great movies and shows in the last four years, so now they just don't generate the same excitement. You can't blame the patriarchy or whatever, because celebrities openly campaigned against the first Captain Marvel movie, yet it made over $1B at the box office. Because Marvel had clout then. People believed in them. Now that faith has all but disappeared, and they've got another box office dud on their hands.

So it's doing on par with a movie about a better known character and pre-pandemic movies when people went to the theaters a lot more than they do now? And the smear campaign against this film?
Not bad.

Just like the folks who said the movie was immoral, sick and anti-American because of its characters.

Not bad. It’s a flop, man. It happens. That's what they said about Elemental as well. Seeing how the film is getting nice word of mouth, I'm willing to wait.
Yes, I also waited out to see how Quantumania turned out. And I waited to see if BvS would end up a success too because I wanted to enjoy it.

B cinescore. That’s not indicative of nice word of mouth.

Well, it would seem formersamhmd has hijacked yet another thread with their trolling tactics, testing to see jusr how far they can take their nonsense before their account sees a strike by an administrator. It will be interesting to see what rhetoric they will be using in the coming days when it becomes more apparent just how bad of a flop this motion picture is, and if they will end up turning on Barbie to justify why it succeeded while The Marvels failed.

I think it's interesting that Marvel went from having huge box office opening numbers to getting what we used to make fun of Fox-Marvel and , to som extent, DC for.
Maybe it's karma?

B cinescore. That’s not indicative of nice word of mouth. For anyone who doesn't know - Cinemascore is not a measure of quality, it's an industry metric predicting whether a movie might make money at the theater or home video.
They gave Nolan's "Tenet" a B, and the last Ninja Turtles Movie
