Flyers lose late. Bad night for Philly. At least they still have a great player like James Harden...

Weird game.
Caps go up 3-0 in the first.
Devils own the 2nd with 4 goals in 6 minutes. 4-3 Devils
Caps outscore the Devils 3-0 in the 3rd. 6-4 Caps.
So all 10 goals were scored in one net. Caps goalie wins his debut at age 27.

NHL draft going to veer towards NFL style with team HQ's at their respective home offices instead of at tables on an arena's floor. GM's are on their phones the whole time anyways, say they're already doing this except they won't have to all fly to another city to 'meet'.
2025 seems to be the last time at the latest. They could, obviously, start asap, but 2024 draft is in Las Vegas, & they don't want to give that NHL wkend away.
Sens Shane Pinto suspended 41 games for activities related to sports gambling. Team has rescinded all ties with the player.

American forward Adam Johnson, who played 13 games in the NHL with the Penguins, has died following a freak accident on the ice with the Nottingham Panthers of Britain's Elite Ice Hockey League. Sustained a cut to the neck from a skate. He only joined the Panthers a few months ago.

It was at the blue line and the guy going to the ice with his skate up kung-fu style looked like he might have been trying to get a penalty call.

Sustained a cut to the neck from a skate. He only joined the Panthers a few months ago. I was in the arena in 1989 when Sabres goalie Clint Malarchuk got his carotid sliced by a skate. I was at the other end of the Sabres net. Malarchuk went to his knees, clutching his throat. First thing I thought was the heel of a skate hit him in his Adam's Apple. But we could hear people on the other end screaming. Malarchuk got up and began skating to the bench. It was then you could see the spray of blood coming out with every heartbeat. You could see players vomiting on the ice. Malarchuk was fortunate, the Sabres trainer had served as a medic in Vietnam and knew what to do. He held the carotid until surgeons in attendance came and stitched him up enough to get him to the ER. Many don't realize that a skate for an NHL player is so sharp you can shave with it. If I live to be 500, I'll never forget that red blood all over that white ice

Yeah, I remember the sports pages in the papers when that happened, b&w photos. Amazing he thought enough to skate off asap & there was help nearly right away also. He said he skated off so his mother wouldn't see him die on camera. The trainer knealt on his neck to compress breathing. To this day, I can't look at a goalie's mask set up without thinking if it's the best they can do. All things considered, it's rather incredible the low number of deaths in organized ice hockey.

Want to add the other player involved in the play is potentially a traumatic victim - one who is living & will live with this incident until the end of time. Like a batter shaken when a ball/bat strikes a fan - which I guess isn't a thing anymore with netting.

After seeing a video of that incident, I don't think that it was unintentional.

50% of Leafs games this season have gone to OT. 2nd highest mark in the modern era: last year's Kraken, 37.5%.
I guess scoring & no D makes it so.
Also - Connor McDavid is now on Canada's Walk of Fame... lols.
