The Big East is stacked this year. 2nd toughest conference to the BXII. Every team in the East is a threat, except DePaul And Georgetown. Kyle Neptune seems to have fixed things after that horror show in the Philly Big Five. UConn, Crieghton or Marquette could win it all.
The XII is ridiculous. Houston, Baylor, Kansas, Texas. The two teams that were predicted to finish at the bottom, Cincinnati and BYU are 11-2 and 12-1. Oklahoma was supposed to be in the lower half but are 12-1. The only crap team is West Virginia, who got kneecapped by Bob Huggins right before the season started.
Providence down at the half vs Creighton. Providence lost their player, Bryce Hopkins, for the year. Friars don't have a prayer
The Big East is going to be a bloodbath. Too many good teams. Seton Hall beat Marquette today.
Kentucky is a very good team. Could win it all.

Down to one unbeaten, Houston. Mississippi got thumped by Tennessee and James Madison lost to Southern Miss. BYU lost to Cincinnati, were ranked #4 at KenPom.
Conference play usually separated the contenders from the pretenders

Did you think the elbow should not have been a flagrant? I was ok with the flagrant call, but I also think Dickinson pushed off a LOT on the final bucket and it should have been called. 2 arm full extension should be a call every time

It was a flagrant because it was in Allen Field House.
Dickinson also traveled on the last bucket, picked up his feet multiple times. Thought I was watching an NBA game for a minute

Unfortunate because that was a hell of a college basketball game. That is probably the most lead changes I've ever seen in a college game. Constant battle of 1-point games. Did you catch Purdue/Illinois on Friday? Purdue lead big all game and in typical Purdue fashion, they let Illinois back in it late in the 2nd half - got the lead down to 3. There was a flagrant call against Purdue in that game, that I was absolutely shocked by. I know obvious bias here, so looking for other opinions. On Reddit, the concensus even with Illinois fans was the flagrant was really bogus.

TCU had a 5-4 break, no foul was called when it happened so the play should have continued. The saying goes that when you are visiting Allen Fieldhouse, it's an 8 on 5 game. Allen is up with Cameron, Rupp and the Dean Dome as the arenas where the fans influence thee referees the most.
I did watch some of Purdue-Illinois but fell asleep on the couch. I thought Michigan State had got their shit together and might give your team a run in the B10 but they got hammered by Northwestern.
I wondered why there's no big games tonight but I forgot about Michigan-Washington

Michigan looks so horrible... I think Wisconsin will contend with Purdue in the Big Ten. I have tickets when Purdue travels there on February 4th, very excited. It was weird that they stopped the play, I didn't think they should have done that either, until change of possession. I still was ok with it being called a flagrant. It clearly wasn't intentional, but the contact was above the shoulders and was hard, and he definitely threw his elbow a bit more than he needed to. I do wish they TCU pulled it out as much as I hate Dickinson, but as an unbiased observer that game was amazing to watch. Florida Kentucky was fun as hell too, both those teams can fly and score.

Wisconsin is possible. They have lost three, Providence (when they had Bryce Hopkins), Tennessee (overrated, imo) and Arizona. But they lost badly in all three. And they did beat Marquette. Northwestern is freaky. Beat Purdue, beat Michigan State. Lost to Chicago State.
And, yeah, Michigan is a train wreck. Yeah, they lost everyone form last year. They lost to Long Beach State and McNeese State. I watched a little of the Penn State game and Michigan was winning. But lost by six

Purdue and Houston both go down. Could Nebraska make the 64 this year? Almost definitely, unless they collapse. That was a huge win. Thee losses, none bad (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Creighton).
One NCAA since 1998

Purdue and Houston both go down. Could Nebraska make the 64 this year? Funny that I was hyping them up a week ago. They played an amazing game - shot almost 65% from 3, and every single time Purdue went on a run to make it close again, they came back with a huge run of theirs knocking down big shots. Got to give them credit, well deserved and legit win. The Houston/Iowa State game was really entertaining as well. Purdue game had already started but I couldn't turn the Houston game off. Iowa State is another team that is pretty good, and we could see playing come March.

Wow, what a week. Kansas and Tennessee go down last night, making 4 out of 5 of the top 5 losing this week. Uconn was a pretty close one too, with danger of losing late in that game. Rankings won't shake up too much with everyone losing

Rankings won't shake up too much with everyone losing Barring further upsets, I think this is how it will look Monday
1. UConn 2. Purdue 3. Kentucky 4. Houston 5. UNC
That was a bad loss for Kansas. UCF lost to Stetson, who lost to Chicago State, maybe the worst team in CBB. Purdue won't suffer too much. Houston's weak non-conference schedule will start to bite them in the ass. Kentucky is vastly underrated. Yeah, the olat to UNC Wilmington (in Rupp) but all their big men were out. Hate to say it, but Carolina looked good, slaughtering NC State.
for fun, KenPom's and BartTorvik's top 5 (updated daily)
KP
1. Houston (still) 2. Arizona 3. Purdue 4. Auburn (!) 5. UConn
BT 1. Houston 2. Purdue 3. Arizona 4. Alabama (!) 5. Auburn (!!)
The computers love Auburn, #16 in the AP. Two losses, to Baylor and Appalachian State. And they haven't beaten anyone, best win, Texas A&M

I'm thinking Monday's top5 looks like (assuming teams don't lose again who play this weekend): 1. Purdue 2. Houston 3. Uconn 4. Kentucky 5. Kansas I don't think there is much of a shakeup, but could be wrong. It will certainly be close. Normally losses result in just next team moves up, but last week it was a very solid top 3, and with them all losing, I think they absorb the losses this week. Edit to add: this is assuming some of these teams get pretty good wins over the weekend. Kansas beating Oklahoma and Houston beating TCU on the road would both be big wins. I might need to reevaluate Purdue staying at #1 over Houston if that happens, as they play Penn State at home, so a good chance for a bounce-back game but definitely not the quality win that the other 2 would get.

Looks like Gonzaga will finally tumble out of the Top 25 on Monday. Are they in danger of not winning the West Coat Conference this year?

Looks like Gonzaga will finally tumble out of the Top 25 on Monday. Are they in danger of not winning the West Coat Conference this year? Elite 8 since 2015 WCC Regular season champs since 2011-12
24 or more wins since 1999-00
All in danger this season. Has Gonzaga's glory days come and gone? Will they go the way of UNLV and Georgetown? Or is this just an off season, like UNC in 2002 and 2022 and Duke in 1995?

They're definitely toast to be ranked come Monday I think with NIL it will be harder and harder for Gonzaga to keep up what they had. I think the Elite 8 streak you mention is actually Sweet 16 right? 3 years in that period they lost in the Sweet 16, but still an incredible run to never be upset very early in a 8-year period
