I remember the first televised draft in 1980. With just a large conference room and the helmet phones
It was a lot better without all this flim flam

Drake Maye is a festivus miracle! Honestly, kinda can't believe the same Washington organization wants to try RG3 2.0 & I avoided all such notions jinxing him onto the Patriots. Anyways, Merry Christmas Mr. Potter!!

What's the strategy here by the Falcons? I mean, I'm certainly not a Cousins fan, but they did give him a lot of money, right? And no knock on Penix but dumb organizations do dumb things.

It really makes no sense. I'm guessing they thought Michael Penis Jr. was a top 5 pick and were surprised he was still there. Not a great reason to choose someone who doesn't suit your situation, but thar seems most likely to me.

Eagles win the draft getting the top ranked CB at 22 without having to trade up. Thank you to all the dumb teams that drafted before them!

It was easily the shocker of the draft. Cousins can be traded/cut after 2 seasons without much if any dead cap. Penix will likely sit those two years. He is already on the older side at 23 so he won't be starting until he is 25/26 at the earliest. Meanwhile a team like the Raiders are left holding their dick without a QB.

Not thrilled with the Packers pick. Cooper DeJean fell into their lap and passed. He somehow is still available so maybe GB can grab him tomorrow. If the Packers were set on going OL at 25 I'd have much rather seen them go for Barton or Guyton.

Both he and I were thrilled with all of those QBs going. I loved Mitchell and Arnold, but when the Steelers got on the board at 20, there were literally five guys on the board that I was excited about. I would have loved your guy or Arnold, but both of us are thrilled with how things played out.

Some NFL Network ppl are suggesting because it's win now mode, they want QB insurance after 482950 QB's played in the NFL last year... the NFC South is theirs if they want it, & if Cousins goes out, they can keep playing. Still, a weird one if they lose a home playoff game because not great enough defense. Or maybe they drop a red zone TD pass because they're not used to Penix's southpaw out of the bullpen?

Colts made Laiatu Latu the first defensive player off the board at 15. Admittedly not as exciting as grabbing an offensive weapon, but the big names were gone at that point - and with CJ Stroud in the division, adding serious talent to the defensive line is crucial.

I'm perfectly fine with Drake Maye, but he will need help. At least he is used to a bad O-line.

Growing speculation that JJ McCarthy has jumped Drake Maye. For some reason there is a Drake Maye/Jordan Love comparison going around that Maye needs to sit for a few years before playing. Just speculation but there are concerns that Robert Kraft is a bit too hands on in regards to the #3 pick and that he might think going the Michigan route like Brady is the right way to go instead of Maye. If they screw this up I'm curious as to how they find a way to blame it on Belichick. I'm curious as to how anyone can honestly make the case for Belichick's greatness. I guess some questions shall remain unanswered.

Still trying to figure out the Bills trading out. Yeah, once you got past Harrison, Nabers and Odunze, the next 8-10 WR's are interchangeable. And Brandon Beane had produced some diamonds in the later rounds. But to trade with KC... If the Bills lose in the playoffs on a Mahomes to Worthy TD, there will be a shitstorm here

If the Bills lose in the playoffs on a Mahomes to Worthy TD, there will be a shitstorm here I think the trade alone with KC itself is the poor optics for Bills fans. Rewarding your nemesis like that isn't great. Some suggested they can now sit atop Day 2 & weren't going to select him anyways. I think the Penix & Nix stuff is a bit overblown - Denver wanted a QB now, & Sean Payton was hired in part to fix that, & they weren't picking again until 76th overall. Nix is a safe project, which only looks weird because of where he was chosen. Kirk Cousins is 35 & decidedly not Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers - guy might not even be feasible within 2yrs of his 4yr deal, which by then isn't he no longer guaranteed or whatever, dunno. Honestly, having Penix sit & give his body 1-2yrs off from the physicality can only be a positive. Penix has an NFL arm & that should be the case for years to come regardless. Next up in May is the schedule release, & I'm ready to chop a few of 2023 playoff teams to the curb.

This draft's ripples may not be impacted until next year's draft, with a likely lesser QB class, & see if there's a run on those players as an echo of 2024. I think the Panthers are probably already on the clock for a 2025 QB if Bryce doesn't figure how he fits. The COVID season also landed in this 2024 draft, & ppl should chill about the games played & whatever. It was baked in.
