despite the addition of Morgan and the sort of reboot of the show with it's big time jump.

Where does Journalist Lady get the massive amount of gas it would take to toodle around in that ginormous armored SWAT vehicle?

I'm done with TWD, and was ready to switch to Fear after their great season 3. However, with this crossover, time jump, and reboot crap....they lost me too! Especially after killing off my favorite character, Nick. I have lost all interest now.

So far the season is doing a lot of flashbacking so Nick might still be in most of the rest of the season. Without looking up the veracity, I heard the actor who plays him wanted off the show, so they killed him off.

Good or bad (and I fall on the good side) they were doing their own thing and not beholden to anything specific that happened in the comics. As far as I can tell they did the time jump just so they can have Morgan on immediately.

I kept reading that FTWD was getting better. So I went back and watched it again...where I left off which is right after the first season. I kept waiting on it to get better...and with season 2, it didn't really do so...then in season 3 things started getting better right towards the end...then I picked up the current season and NOW I have to agree, yes it is better than TWD. People are a little upset about Nick right now, but I don't mind that. I had been waiting for them to really strike it to the original group of the show. In the end, that's what made TWD so great for me was watching it and not knowing whether one of the main characters was safe. I guess TWD just strayed away from that aspect of the show and began killing off all these side characters that had one or two scenes and then expected the audience to care whether they were killed off...and they didn't...at least I didn't. But when it hits home with one of the main characters...then I'm really feeling something about the show.
So yeah, now I'm hooked on FTWD and can't wait to see how this season plays out.

Like the kid who played Carl, Nick will end up regretting it and will end up on the sci fi convention circuit.....if he's lucky.

Yeah, but unlike Chandler Riggs, Frank Dillane actually made a choice to regret in the first place.

Yeah, but unlike Chandler Riggs, Frank Dillane actually made a choice to regret in the first place. Chandler Riggs didn't ask to be written out so he could go to college? Nope. He was still gonna be on the show. He confirmed it wasn't his decision to go. Like Laurie Holden before him, he'd just bought a house in Atlanta when they broke the news to him that he was dying, and after he'd been told that he'd be safe on the show for another three years. The big conspiracy theory is that AMC didn't want to pay him more now that he was turning 18 and could renegotiate his contract, though some have said that's not how it works. And even if it isn't, considering some of the shit AMC has pulled in the past revolving around budget cuts, it's not out of the realm of possibility that some shady shit was at play on the part of the executives. No matter what happened, poor Riggs pretty much got screwed over.

Maybe he chose to leave as an FU to AMC for what they apparently did to Riggs? But if so, it's really the fans who suffer the most, so I hope that's not the case.

FTWD is having a great revival season, its best season ever, in fact. At first I was hesitant about all the changes, but now I feel it was for the best, loving the new characters and the much more inventive writing.
As for TWD, I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens when Rick leaves. FTWD has proven you can carry on successfully without your original lead character.

I was liking the end of season 3 a lot. Morgan as he's been written since he became a fulltime character is one of my least favourite. I sure didn't need him for a whole other season on FTWD. But despite him the season started alright, but it's getting worse. Last nights ep was pretty poor. Only Morgan is capable of killing walkers? He can fight off 2 without getting bit and the other guy gets bit while barely able to fight off one? And that new crazy chick can just sneak up on all these people with a walker and no one can fight it off? As usual the writing is wildly inconsistent.

Morgan seems to be written as a superhero, but he does have the experience and training the others do not have. I still feel like the show has a better momentum than previously, and it keeps me guessing.

I re-started watching FTWD after I read about how improved it was, and I was liking it, but Morgan and his stupid actions are ruining it for me. As you said the writing is inconsistent and Morgan is getting on my nerves, as is the journalist woman. The last straw for me was the last episode, where they all stand about looking at each other while the crazy lady makes her getaway - after being shot. None of them think to make sure she doesn't get away until it's too late?
