"Smallville" 8th season episode "Turbulence" from March, 2009. This is probably the weakest episode I have yet encountered. I have watched every entry in the series up to this point. The 8th season so far has been pretty terrible in general but this one was so derivative there is little that is original. The writing got more and more dumbed-down after the first three seasons. They wrote out the most interesting villains in the last season, and any character over 30 years old. Added sex scenes have not compensated for a lack of decent writing. The series has degenerated into a soap opera for teenagers. Quite frankly the only positive thing I can say about this episode, or the 8th season in general is that Tom Welling does all he can to keep his character working. He gives his performances more than they deserve considering what is being written for him.
Unfortunately I purchased a Blu-ray box set of this season, and those to follow, I have been forcing myself to watch now after sailing through earlier seasons. This series clearly should have stopped when Clark Kent graduated from high school. It "jumped the shark" at that point.
