THE WEEK OF feels like Happy Madison Productions gave one of their scripts to a director who isn't friends with Adam Sandler and who thought that he was going to make an indie. The music is almost only diegetic, the camera moves a lot and the lighting is natural. The problem is that this style works when the humour is dry, not light and childish. Maybe the jokes would've been funny if they had been delivered properly. Maybe. What's that? This movie was co-written and directed by the same person?! In most movies, Sandler is either too over-the-top or sleepwalking. Here, he found a middle ground. I guess it's partly because, this time, he's not playing a normal guy who's surrounded by weird and crazy people nor a guy whose personality and/or voice is annoying. He's playing a guy who's both things. His performance is decent, while Allison Strong's is very good. 1/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).
