Episode 1 sucked! 4 me when I saw it last in 1999. But then I saw it yesterday, and I was like, yea it's a good movie.
Because, I like this one better than rouge one or TFA, there's much more going on in episode one, than the force awakens. Even in early on in it had good imagery , like when they fly around in the ocean, and have to avoid getting eaten by the giant fish and what not. Now that's awesome. Even the merchant that flies around was cool. Lol, it's like goofy and cool at the same time. My point is episode one is full of things that are cool, like what I mentioned.

Episode 1 is my least favorite of the Lucas 6. But it has
- great world building - amazing art design - superb music & sound - Palpatine (if you get it) - Qui Gon & Maul - Light sabers fights and pot racers.
I am not sure how to feel about Jar Jar, but I keep him on Porg level, annoying but ok as a comic relieve.

Through his connection to the gungans, Naboo is able to get a strong ally. Jar Jar tests the other characters (not on purpose mind you) around him - especially Obi-Wan's and Qui Gon's patience. He also eventually aids Palpatine in getting more power. The porgs do nothing for the plot of Episode 8. Unlike the Ewoks, the Jawas, the Gungans, etc. the porgs serve no purpose to the story. That's why I despise those little things.

TPM has higher highs and lower lows than TFA
TFA never hit those lows but never truly hit those highs
it depends if prefer the old jar jar or new jar jar "Finn" which movie you may enjoy more

Don't give Disney any ideas. Otherwise, they'll make 'em more useful than Finn. The trouble with Finn is that the writing is all over the place. In Episode 7, he had little heroic moments mixed with some moments that I'll admit made me cringe a little (i.e. "Raaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!"). In Episode 8, he's merely a bumbling fool who serves no purpose. Finn's scenes could be cut entirely from Episode 8 and it still wouldn't impact the plot - that's a bad sign. Also, the writers completely forget who Finn is. He's a Stormtrooper. He should be suffering from PTSD or bad memories at the very least. He should be haunted. He shouldn't be throwing around "sassy one-liners" that one would expect a stereotypical 80's sitcom African American character would say. Once he's out of the uniform, it's almost like Finn never was a Stormtrooper (except for a few throw away lines of exposition). The whole deserted Stormtrooper plot line could have been handled so much better. It had so much potential...
