LOGAN implies he volunteered he volunteered again with presence of the dog tags. Nice observation. It could be. But he didn't wear any dogtag in the Apocalypse's "Weapon X" sequence, if memory serves me well. Could still have it on him since he had pants.

Now that Hugh Jackman has decided to move on I think its the perfect time to do a complete re-boot of the entire Fox X-men cinematic universe (except for Deadpool), start fresh and then make movies that keep the timeline straight and clean.
Even with all the course correcting time jumps and what not the timeline is still messed up. And X-men Apocalypse IMO did nothing to help.

True, but think about this: Even X-23 is wrong in the timeline. X-23 wasn't a child when we first met her in the comics. She was already a teen. AND she is con-current with the rest of the X-Men, not part of some X-Menless future a la Old Man Logan. If we see X-23 in future movies I would want to see a teenaged version who interacts with the rest of the X-men like she does in the comics.
