For me the worst is this isn't a Supergirl show but a Superman in a skirt show.

Worst thing? Is that a trick question? The show, the writing, Mon El, the Worldkillers, Imra's clothes. What isn't wrong with this show? Best thing? Amy Jackson. Amy Jackson is too good for the show.

Worst: Loss of Cat Grant and no real idea what to do with Jimmy...though his relationship with Lena is helping a little. They also introduced Superman so they could use him from time to time, but never call on him when it really counts.
Best: Melissa Benoist is fantastic and any show that has a solid version of J'onn J'onzz is worthy of praise.

Last night's Supergirl episode wasn't horrible. The big group fight scene was pretty good.

In my opinion the three worst thing about this show is it is nothing like the majority of 'Supergirl' comic books and is more like a female version of 'Superman' (as cjdull76 mentioned above), they focus too much on the supporting characters instead of the main star and more than half of them they don't even need on the show and they have depowered Supergirl and her power level is all over the place and varies in different which they have also done with the Flash. The three best things are Martian Manhunter (I would watch a spinoff show if they moved him somewhere else and made him Detective John Jones), the actresses (Katie McGrath and Amy Jackson are total hotties!!) and guest appearances from actors like Dean Cain, Helen Slater, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort. I wouldn't mind seeing more actors from previous DC shows appear and would like to see Michael Rosenbaum play a superhero like Cosmic Boy or Lightning Lad for a change.

Woo! Someone agrees with me. Maybe I'm not a crackpot after all. No. I think you are right with a lot of things regarding these shows and a lot of other people would too. Everybody I know who grew up reading 'Supergirl' comic books like I did has said the show is nothing like the comic books and is a 'Superman' TV show and it is not as bad as the awful TV adaption of 'Birds of Prey' but it could have been sooo much better if they had made it a proper 'Supergirl' TV show and I suppose it is funny in a way 'cause you had a lot of fans complaining about 'Man of Steel' not being a proper 'Superman' movie and being too dark and fans complaining that 'Supergirl' is not a proper 'Supergirl' TV show and is too light. They should have swapped tones but had 'Supergirl' with the darker Horror elements and pissed off edgy and aggressive attitude and 'Man of Steel' with 'Supergirl's' light and fluffy tone with a geeky Clark Kent and then everybody could have been happy.

HAHAHA AHAHAHAHA HAHAHA HAHA HA...Ha, that's a good one Deb, everyone would have been happy *snickers* this is the internet people would of bitched, that's what they did in Superman Returns and people bitched it was boring and dull, people bitch Supermans too perfect and not relatable, so they make MOS more action and make Superman more human and people bitched because that's not Superman enough...fucking people man, fuck em.
I honestly think the problem of this show is the writing, better writing would make the changes you and others dislike palatable, I said this before but how many people felt S1 & 2 of Arrow being more Batman than Green Arrow was a bad thing? some di but most just enjoyed it for having good fun episodes with characters we could care about and enjoy, then the writing went downhill but we got more GA things crop up, but they were done so poorly it actually pissed of the GA fans for making a mockery of what they liked.
If they made a "true" Supergirl show you'd hate it also because these fuckers would be writing it and fucking it up like they fuck up this version.

You have a good point there. Some people on the internet are rarely happy even when they get what they want and I do remember the people who complained about 'Superman Returns' being too light and boring when it came out but according to the people who hated 'Man of Steel' those people didn't exist and a lot of the haters of 'Man of Steel' turned around and made out 'Superman Returns' was a masterpiece and Warner Bros should have made a sequel to it and never got rid of Brandon Routh. I personally didn't think 'Superman Returns' was that bad but it had its fair share of problems and I didn't like Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and thought she was miscast for the role, I didn't like how they made it out to be a continuation of the Christopher Reeve movies when there were too many continuity differences to be part of that universe and most of all I didn't like having another 'Superman' movie with Lex Luthor again over other powerful villains that deserved a chance on the big screen but I don't think it was awful or a masterpiece.
The writers of 'Supergirl' are the main problem and you are right, they could have made it a proper adaption and it still would have not been fantastic with the writers messing it up which is why they should drop all the writers and employ new ones. If we want to see big changes new writers under a new direction could bring that. They should reboot the show like they are rebooting 'Gotham.' Do a Season 5 of '24' and kill off most of the side characters and put the full focus on Kara.

Cant do that Deb , you do that and given CW's typical level of quality all we would get is a different variation of meh and then the show wouldn't have the crew of supporting characters which are actual credits to the show 80% of the time.
I say we be positive, Supergirl is doomed to be this but what Supergirl does is build up brand recognition of Supergirl so in the future we can get a proper Supergirl film or a Supergirl show on a higher quality network, not every play is designed to score a goal after all sometimes the objective is to merely stop the other team, or in this case it's not about a touchdown but gaining yards so eventually someone else can hopefully score a touchdown with a better adaptation of the character.
...What the fuck just happened? Deb's proposing a mass slaughtering of characters and a burn it to the ground approach whilst I...ME...The borderline psychotic hate fuelled pesemist I'm the one preaching positivity? what the hell is going on here, next DC-Fan is going to say something witty & insightful, followed shortly by the arrival of the 4 horsemen as the sky turns and the earth shakes because the end will be fucking nigh...that or I'm just in a somewhat good mood for once...nah it's the apocalypse....WERE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!

Hey! Killing off a lot of the side characters would be fun (heehee) and they could introduce Lilith by having her kill off Alex, Mon El and James Olsen in the first episode of next season and that would set the tone for the rest of the season much like '24' did when they killed off Tony, Michelle and David Palmer in the first episode of Season 5. It would be something a lot of fans wouldn't see coming and would help get the focus back on Kara Zor-El/Supergirl like it is in the 'Supergirl' comic books. The CW Network is not known for having the highest quality shows but this is the same network (formerly known as the WB Network) that had 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' which are two of the most popular TV shows of all time so they were doing something right at one point and 'Smallville' was often on a different level than the 'Arrowverse' shows so they could be better under the right people. They should just hire back all the 'Smallville' writers to write the 'Arrowverse' shows.

Tell me about it, rewatching Buffy & Angel as of late and my god except for the CGI effect those shows blow these ones out of the water, sure there's some typical blegh but it's generally great stuff, the emotional moments play, the action is fun, the comedy works, even the annoying at times characters are offset by being great in other moments, and they play up things so well, the other day I watched the episode where/after Joyce died and I don't think they played any music in it, normally music helps set the mood but the acting and writing just didn't need it and the silence between the moments made it feel so real, when I first watched it I didn't get it that much, and I haven't seen the episode in over a decade but now having gone through that myself how close to home that all hit, had me tearing up, compare that to even Arrow or Flash's dealing with death of a loved one moments and it's just uncomparable, but then Buffy was a cultural phenomenon and Joss at the height of his storytelling, so it's a bit unfair to do so.

Yeah. TV Shows like 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' are superior in storylines and characters to the shows in the 'Arrowverse' and you only have to look at how popular some of their side characters and villains like Faith, Spike, Anya, Wesley, Dru and Darla become and it was that which lead to some of them becoming season regulars or having larger roles than they originally planned. Spike was supposed to be a one season villain that was going to be killed off at the end and he was so popular with fans they made him a season regular and he eventually got a soul and become good. Darla only appeared in one episode in the first season (not counting flashbacks) and she was so popular people were talking about her for years and they eventually brought her back to life in 'Angel.' The characters were just better written and a lot of shows haven't been able to match their popularity or the popularity of the show. Sure the CGI wasn't great but looking back at a lot of the shows made around the time theirs wasn't either but the makeup and demons they created were really awesome at the time and I remember both shows got a lot of praise for their demons and I have an old book called 'The Monster Book' (as seen below) and it has all the demons from the first 4 seasons in it and shows the actors getting their make up on.
I don't think the 'Arrowverse' shows will ever be on the same level as 'Buffy' and 'Angel' - I don't think the Marvel shows are either and one of them has Joss Whedon working on it but I think they could be a lot better and the writers don't seem to take them seriously enough sometimes especially 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow.'
