I feel as if "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" is unfairly lumped into the dreaded "Prequel Trilogy" and it's not fair.
I love how Anakin puts on the mask at the very end of Episode III as opposed to how Darth Vader takes off the mask at the end of Episode VI. The only thing it's missing is a Force Ghost scene with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi Wan. That would have been perfect, as opposed to Yoda saying Obi Wan can correspond with Qui-Gon alluding to the force ghost.
I believe Revenge of the Sith is more creative, innovative, higher stakes and lower depths of darkness than The Force Awakens. The more I watch TFA, the more unbearable it holds up. The unmasking of Kylo Ren was terrible. He went from sort of menacing to an emo douche. The acting was terrible, and people talk about the prequel acting.
People loved it because it featured the OG cast members and it was a beat for beat remake of "A New Hope", so it was essentially a nostalgia trip. However, Revenge of the Sith paved the story and universe forward, I feel TFA took it backward.
1. Empire Strikes Back 2. Star Wars 3. Revenge of the Sith 4. Return of the Jedi 5. The Force Awakens 6. The Phantom Menace 7. The Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith is a flawed masterpiece, while Force Awakens is a flaw modelled after a masterpiece (i.e. ANH & OT). IMHO.

The Force Awakens 6. The Phantom Menace 7. The Attack of the Clones I personally would rank Sith number 4 below Jedi. But I agree that EP III had many strong points that are overlooked in favor of its shortcomings which are relatively minor. I also agree that Awakens was more of a remake than a sequel. It was desperately lacking in originality, especially in regards to Starkiller base which was essentially yet another Death Star. Evil super weapons are a common trope in the saga. But other stories at least made them different. For example Dark Forces has the Dark Trooper a high tech battle droid that could wipe out Rebel Bases with ease. Knights of the Old Republic had the Star Forge, an ancient space platform that could produce starships quickly and cheaply. The creators of these were able to think of something original way couldn't a major motion picture studio do the same. Say what you want about the prequels, at least they tread new ground. With regards to Kylo Ren. I at least appreciate that they were trying to add a new type of villain to the series. A psychologically unstable and somewhat sympathetic antagonist was one of the few original things in the sequel trilogy. I agree that it wasn't executed very well, with the character coming off more petulant than tortured. I also didn't find his appearance(unmasked) to be intimidating. I think shorter hair would have been wise. Calling Awakens a nostalgia trip is pretty accurate and therefore I do not think the movie will age well. It may be effective at reintroducing the public to the series but as time goes on A New Hope will become the entry point again and Awakens will be seen as redundant.

Every time I watch it the movie gets better. It shot from second to last on my Star Wars ranked list to third as well. It has even aged pretty well. My present-day list is:
1. Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Revenge of the Sith 4. The Force Awakens 5. Return of the Jedi 6. Attack of the Clones 7. Phantom Menace
AotC and RotJ are practically a tie for me.

It's the best 2 me. It's rememberd for....
Good Anakin good! Kill him! Kill him now! DO IT!
I am the Senate! Not yet!
Order 66. ......And we shall have peace.
The Declaration of the New Order and So this is how liberty dies.....
The death of Padme & the birth of Vader & the twins.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! ( i don't care. He was angry.)
And the greatest ending so far. Vader, Tarkin & Palpatine looking at the DS. Baby Leia delivered to Alderaan. Obi-Wan delivers Baby Luke 2 the Lars with a Binary Sunset. (Or was it a Sunrise? ;-) ).
I thought R1 was gonna pass it but it still needs to sink in.

I thought R1 was gonna pass it but it still needs to sink in. dude, it's also remembered for the Opera scene, Immolation montage, the fight Yoda v Palps in which they destroy the senate (prematurely, and Palps still enjoys it a lot), for the very first shot and battle, for Anakin burning, for the horrifying cheezy "Unlimited Power", for Anakin/Padmes sensing each from the distance, and many other...
This made me a fan, despite being inicially being very reserved towards the lil kiddy franchise Star Wars.

My only issue with the movie, is how fragile and weak Padme is portrayed after how strong and independent she was previously. Maybe Lucas was thinking her pregnancy would make her more emotional? Still seemed way out of character. Otherwise, it's a movie I rewatch in a heartbeat given the opportunity.

The Phantom Menace 6. Attack of the Clones 7. -- TFA is better than ROTS, this is fact, better and bigger scores, and it crushed it at the box office, this is all the evidence you need. You lose time and time again, next please. TFA is not better, and my saying so doesn't make it fact, it's an opinion. Box office numbers don't indicate film quality, your argument is flawed. Address any number of the topics that dissect all the reasons TFA is a failure as a SW film. Otherwise, next please.

Can't say I agree with the OP.
However, as far as I see things ROTS does have one interesting thing going for it - it is the only Star Wars film released to date which is better than the one released immediately before it...
