Gotham has been renewed for a 5th and final season. That means, with a 12-episode season next season, Gotham will become the 4th DC series to reach 100 episodes, joining Smallville, Arrow, and The Flash (which will also reach 100 episodes next season). That's pretty amazing.

Gotham's last season will reportedly focus on Bruce's transformation into Batman. However DC won't allow them to use the name Joker because of their movie plans.

That means, with a 12-episode season next season, Gotham will become the 4th DC series to reach 100 episodes, joining Smallville, Arrow, and The Flash (which will also reach 100 episodes next season). That's pretty amazing. Not really, it's more amazing how few shows hit 100, also Gotham should have been a no brainer really, so close to 100 episodes and that sweet sweet syndication money, also it's factually wrong, Adventures of Superman did 104 episodes, Batman 66 went for 120 episodes, Mad TV which is owned by DC hit 329, Superboy went for exactly 100 episodes and Teen Titans Go! is at 205.
Also with S4 confirmed Supergirl is locked for a S5 which will also see it hit 100 even if they have to make it a truncated season if the ratings drop off, but they'll get their 100 out of it for syndication purposes, so odd though that Lois & Clark didn't do this, they were 4 season deep and so close to 100 why not push for it just on those grounds, plus that way they didn't need to end on such a god damn cliffhanger.
Some in some form may be able to claim it but due to the oddities of network thinking it's a bit unclear, like should we count B:TAS as it went 85 episodes but then it's follow on which was just a repackaged and cheaper version of the show with the same cast and story continuity but a new title followed it instead of just calling it S5 & 6, same with the 70's-80's series where it's kinda confusing as to what you count as what as they combined shows for power hours which seems more like a marketing block but is still labelled as separate series via wiki's and such, cartoons man are a bloody mess.

Lethal Weapon got picked up for a 3rd season with Sean William Scott taking over the lead from Clayne Crawford but wont be assuming the role of Riggs and will instead be a new character, looking forward to it.

Yeah, OUAT should have ended last season, when they still had the majority of thei original cast, instead of retooling it. You are right. We still haven't seen it here 'cause we are behind with it and have given up with Channel 7 and are waiting for it to come out on DVD but I didn't have high hopes for 'Once Upon A Time' after the main star and other cast members left the show and few shows have been able to survive without their main star and 'That 70s Show' only lasted one season with Jackie as the lead after Eric left. I was disappointed with the choice of characters they got for this season too and I think if they had brought back Elsa and Anna and made them the main stars the show would have had a better chance. I remember reading there were plans to bring Alice from 'Once Upon A Time In Wonderland' over to the main show too but that never happened. It is a shame 'cause it was one of my favourite shows and I loved Season 4 with Georgina Haig as Elsa. It is also disappointing Georgina's new show, 'The Crossing' got cancelled before we even got to see it here.

There's a 'Lethal Weapon' TV show? I didn't even know about that. I assume it must be better than the 'Rush Hour' show if it is already up to the third season and the 'Rush Hour' show was just awful and the guy they got to play Jackie Chan's role wasn't even funny and I am just glad we are going to get a 'Rush Hour 4' movie.

That's really disappointing news Hardball. I have been enjoying 'Gotham' and I suppose it could be worse like with 'Dark Matter' last season where the show got cancelled on a major cliffhanger and we didn't get any answers for a lot of the questions we had been waiting to find out but I don't know why they don't just move the show over to the DC Online Streaming Service like WWE did with NXT after it got cancelled. With 'Titans' and 'Swamp Thing' on the way surely they could have 'Gotham' on the DC Online Streaming Service' too but maybe if the final season gets better ratings DC might consider it. I am interesting in seeing what this means for the future of the characters. If it is going to focus on Bruce's transformation into Batman they might replace the actor with an older actor now and they might also replace the actors for Selina and the Penguin too. I remember they said something not long ago about by the end of the show all the villains would look like the way they are most well known to in the comic books and I have said before the Penguin looks nothing like he does in the comic books and his attitude is completely wrong. They might speed things up with him now and change the actor to somebody fatter, balder, older, grumpier and uglier looking with a deep voice and a short temper. Hopefully they bring back Harvey Dent too and we get to see Kate Kane, Aaron Cash, Barbara Gordon, Dick Grayson, Stephanie Brown and others before it ends.
Lady Shiva should be in the final season!!

Doubt they'll keep the show going past S5, if they did it would require mass contract renewals which would require pay bumps all around, also they wont want a full on Batman TV show competing with their films because you know WB are dipshits.
Also there is no need on there part to make any more seasons because Gotham will be hitting syndication numbers already so the long term paydays already been reached, plus I think the DC Universe maybe reliant on just a handful of original programming and otherwise subsist on their catalogue of older shows, and seeing how Gotham has never been a mega hit there's just no incentive for them to keep it going.

As Dazz pointed out, Gotham was renewed so Fox could sell it to syndication. Lucifer - which had higher ratings than Gotham - was cancelled, so if it wasn't for the fact that Gotham was just 13 eps away from 100 it would have been cancelled too. But anyway it's good to know the show did get a a 5th season. I've been rewatching season 1 in fits and starts - been busy these past few weeks - and it was better than I thought. But even if Gotham had high ratings, its days on Fox were numbered. If the Fox and Disney merger is approved, there's no way Disney - which owns Marvel - will allow a DC show to air. But yes, if the fans clamor for it Gotham may come back on the DC streaming service, or God forbid, the CW.

Yeah. I am interested in seeing what those other programs are going to be 'cause there are a lot of old DC TV shows they could have on the DC Online Streaming Service like 'Superman', 'Batman', 'Wonder Woman', 'Superboy', 'The Flash', 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman', 'Smallville', 'Arrow', 'The Flash', 'Supergirl', 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' etc along with all the animated TV shows and if they go forward with the animated movie of 'Smallville' it will most likely be on the 'DC Online Streaming Service.' You are right about 'Gotham' never being a mega hit but I don't think they are going to get the same ratings 'Gotham' was getting for 'Titans' and 'Swamp Thing' on their DC Online Streaming Service' 'cause that is something that everybody will have to pay per if they want to watch it while 'Gotham' was aired around the world. You are most likely right though and I doubt they want a full 'Batman' TV show competing with the movies which is why they will most likely only have him appear in flashbacks in 'Titans.' It is dumb they can't use the Joker name and that to me sounds like complete overkill like everybody knows he is the Joker so why can't they use it. It seems so dumb. I forgot to post this about your comments about 'Lois and Clark.' books.google.com.au/books?id=OmYt2xaxktEC&pg=PT216&lpg=PT216&dq=lois+and+clark+season+Michael+Eisner&source=bl&ots=r1GNy6KC2Q&sig=RUjFuIIv9XoLcBRFt6PDxfFZEFs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwir14D3h4XbAhVPOrwKHfkyDqUQ6AEINzAF#v=onepage&q=lois%20and%20clark%20season%20Michael%20Eisner&f=false Dean Cain claims it was 'cause Teri Hatcher was pregnant and the network didn't want to wait until after she had the baby to film the next season and one of the producers said they were going to renew it but move it to the daytime which would have killed the ratings for the show so they refused to do it and quit. The reasons vary but a lot of sites have said it was supposed to be renewed and wasn't. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEE9eSVLayg

Did some checking on that turns out Fox the channel is staying with Fox the company, it's the FX channels and local sports stations that Disney will be acquiring, but Fox as a channel will remain but they are trimming a lot of the fat for next season because of their NFL deal, which is going to eat up a lot of their hours so they have less prime time to give to shows.
But yeah Lucifer also gets hurt because it's not a Fox owned property, so they have to pay for the rights to the show, same with Gotham but with syndication being so close and it being a shorter season means profit outweigh the cost, where as Lucifer would need 2 22+ episode seasons to hit the magic number, and with declining numbers, increasing cost and finite resources time wise for original content Lucifer just doesn't cut it for them sadly, too bad because I love Lucifer.

This is another one of those weird double standards from WB/DC. Why is it ok for Superman to appear on TV and movies but not Batman? If WB is concerned it'll compete with the movies then they should have told CW to cancel the Flash because they've got a film coming out. And can't WB see the potential of a Batman TV series and all the stories they can adapt?

Yay!! That's the last show I was worried about. ABC sure took it's time announcing this one. With most other shows I don't really care because there are just too many shows as it is but I really would have missed AOS.

I have to admit, Timeless managed win back at least some of my interest; and am kind of hoping they'll get renewed, but I'm not holding my breath. Very happy about AoS getting picked up; which is something I never would have thought I'd say when it first started.
Now if only the CW would pick up Lucifer...

Wow look at that AOS gets a 6th season and DC-Fan looks to put negative spin on it, Gotham gets a 5th season and he looks to put a positive spin on it, despite overlooking the obvious such as Gotham got renewed just to make syndication numbers and was outright announced to be it's last season, or that AOS was prepared to end with this season and has already hit syndication numbers so renewing it for a 6th seasons isn't based on trying to make a big payday, nor was AOS S6 announced to be it's last. I am hoping this means ABC may have plans for another MCU project to fill the void, just one hopefully better than *shudders* Inhumans...

That is a question I have been wanting to know for a long time along with why TV shows haven't been able to use Wonder Woman and other members of the Bat Family up until now and I think it is 'cause DC view Batman as their biggest superhero and while Superman has higher all time comic book sales and was the biggest and most well known superhero when I was younger that kinda changed after Michael Keaton and Tim Burton's 'Batman' movie and since then Batman has been the face of DC. The popularity of the Bat Family with so many of the characters spinning off into their own series added to that too and when you look at most of the new characters that have appeared in DC in the past 10-15 a lot of them debut in Batman. Superman was allowed to appear in 'Supergirl' last season but he might be off limits again now they are making 'Man of Steel 2' 'cause I read last year he was going to appear in this season but he hasn't been seen since last year.
A 'Batman' TV show could be awesome and would allow them to have the full Bat Family and all of the villains but I don't think Warner Bros will let anybody make one and the 'Batman' TV show with Adam West will remain the only 'Batman' TV show.
