Yeah. I am interested in seeing what those other programs are going to be 'cause there are a lot of old DC TV shows they could have on the DC Online Streaming Service like 'Superman', 'Batman', 'Wonder Woman', 'Superboy', 'The Flash', 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman', 'Smallville', 'Arrow', 'The Flash', 'Supergirl', 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' etc along with all the animated TV shows and if they go forward with the animated movie of 'Smallville' it will most likely be on the 'DC Online Streaming Service.' You are right about 'Gotham' never being a mega hit but I don't think they are going to get the same ratings 'Gotham' was getting for 'Titans' and 'Swamp Thing' on their DC Online Streaming Service' 'cause that is something that everybody will have to pay per if they want to watch it while 'Gotham' was aired around the world. You are most likely right though and I doubt they want a full 'Batman' TV show competing with the movies which is why they will most likely only have him appear in flashbacks in 'Titans.' It is dumb they can't use the Joker name and that to me sounds like complete overkill like everybody knows he is the Joker so why can't they use it. It seems so dumb. I forgot to post this about your comments about 'Lois and Clark.' books.google.com.au/books?id=OmYt2xaxktEC&pg=PT216&lpg=PT216&dq=lois+and+clark+season+Michael+Eisner&source=bl&ots=r1GNy6KC2Q&sig=RUjFuIIv9XoLcBRFt6PDxfFZEFs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwir14D3h4XbAhVPOrwKHfkyDqUQ6AEINzAF#v=onepage&q=lois%20and%20clark%20season%20Michael%20Eisner&f=false Dean Cain claims it was 'cause Teri Hatcher was pregnant and the network didn't want to wait until after she had the baby to film the next season and one of the producers said they were going to renew it but move it to the daytime which would have killed the ratings for the show so they refused to do it and quit. The reasons vary but a lot of sites have said it was supposed to be renewed and wasn't. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEE9eSVLayg Your right the DC Universe is unlikely to get network numbers but because people know this also people wonty be getting network pay, it's like on the CW the highest paid actors are Jared & Jensen who get $3m & $4m give or take a season at this point on the CW's longest running show and one of their top shows also, compare that to say Priyanka Chopra who gets about $10m who is yes the lead but the lead of a much more ensemble show in just it's 3rd season which has just got cancelled, so imagine how much cheaper a start up streaming service will be paying out.
You have a good point. It is unlikely we will get any big name actors or actresses on the 'DC Online Streaming Service' 'cause a lot of them would want more than what Jared and Jensen are getting for 'Supernatural' but I don't know, I think if this takes off and it is successful then Warner Bros might be willing to put more money into these shows and we could end up with shows that are not exactly on a big network budget like ABC or CBS but with a higher budget than the CW TV shows. I heard the Syfy Channel has a higher budget for their TV shows than the CW Network which is surprising 'cause I didn't think they would have that much money but the channel is owned by Universal who also own the Universal Channel and 13th Street. Online Streaming seems to be taking off though and I just read Netflix surpassed Disney and is now one of the richest companies in the world so maybe the 'DC Online Streaming Service' might experience similar success. If it does they might as well drop the movies and just make movies and shows for the network like Netflix does.

How soon we forget Batman: The Animated Series. There will never be a Batman series as good as it. Yeah. That was a great series. I liked 'The Batman' animated show too but I meant live action shows. Warner Bros don't seem to mind people using the characters in animated TV shows and movies but see live action adaptions differently which is a shame 'cause with the right writers a live action TV show like 'Batman: Animated Series' could be made.

Well SyFy also buys programming, Bitten for example was a Canadian show sold to SyFy for American or even global distribution outside of Canada, SyFy also has that going for them, they are a global brand so it's not a case of make a show put it on your network and hope you can sell it elsewhere, SyFy shows not only cover an hour of SyFy's American stations timeslot but 18 other stations TV also, CW doesn't have that, though they maybe bigger in the US SyFy as a global brand eclipses them, so SyFy has a lot more wriggle room with things.
CW's selling their properties to outside markets also help fund them long term, their international distribution deals were iirc the reason why BATB got 4 seasons when they were barely being watched in the US to the point CW put them as a random summer show for the last 2 seasons, but BATB had a multi year deal with international markets which offset the cost and made it financially viable for CW to keep making the shows despite it being dead weight stateside.
You're spot on if the DC Universe can take off they'll invest more money into it, they may even use it as a developmental ground for shows where they may start on the DC Universe but DC then sells them for TV distribution and if that does well may switch them to being first run on the networks, it just opens up so many possibilities for them, and ultimately the biggest hook is going to be merchandising, kid friendly properties even if the adaptation isn't kid friendly are more valuable for the toy sales and such than they are viewerships, it's why good cartoons of stuff get cancelled even when they have good numbers or are fun shows because the toy sales don't mount up sadly.

How soon we forget Batman: The Animated Series. There will never be a Batman series as good as it. Yes, Kevin Conroy remains my quintessential Batman, and Mark Hamill my Joker. There are some things, like the fate of Time Drake, that I don't care for, but love that whole DCAU that sprang out of that series. From a storytelling standpoint, I always felt the serial nature of tv was the better place for the likes of comic book stories; where they could really plumb the depths of characters and really do proper Justice to some of the arcs that require more focus than you can do in one movie; or even several movies that logistically have to be spread out over several years. But a tv show, especially one on a second tier broadcast network not available in all markets, is not as profitable as blockbuster movies with a wellspring of merchandising opportunities. Commercialization will always be the bane of creativity. Will it sell trumps the quality of expression. The flip side of course is that, even where they have made use of the opportunities television has to offer for storytelling with these characters, for whatever reason they have squandered them in the live action adaptations. The likes of the Bruce Time DCUA and other animated takes on DC properties demonstrates that there are stories, dramatic, well crafted stories worth telling; and if I had my druthers these shows would be stacked with the writers who worked on the animated shows and told to write the live action versions from the exact same perspective and standard. Or as close to it as possible with the limits of effects and physics. Given the way the DC movies have turned out as of late, I think the smart move for Warner Brothers to compete with Marvel and be inovative with their comic book properties would be to corner the television market, which they already sort of have, but to a more focused and dedicated degree. Go all in by allowing shows based on Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman. Create an internal DC Studios division that has absolute control over those properties and applies a single, unified vision and direction. This can even include alternate iterations of someone like Batman, but done with the intention of still trying all together by saying, " Yes, Chris Pratt will be Batman in this movie; and he's the Batman of Earth 47, which in certain ways are like our Earth, but these are the ways it isn't. And there isn't a Superman on that Earth; or there is, and this is some of the backstory, which could become a movie, but it doesn't necessarily have to be." And then do what Marvel has been really weak at doing, you create the inroads whereby the stars of some of those movies could and actually do cross over and visit some of the shows, or vice versa.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I didn't know 'Bitten' was a Canadian show that was sold to the Syfy Channel and I thought it was a show that was created by the Syfy Channel in Canada but 'Continuum' was a Canadian show that was owned by Showcase in Canada and aired here on the Syfy Channel and 'The Librarians' was on TNT but aired here on the Syfy Channel and the Universal Channel. It is confusing for us here 'cause we get all the TV shows that air in America on different channels here and 'Arrow', 'The Flash', 'Supergirl', 'Gotham', 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow', 'The Gifted' and 'Marvel's The Runaways' all air on Fox 8 here and we got them all throughout the week ad free at 8:30 pm. I heard 'Lost Girl' and 'Orphan Black' aired on the Syfy Channel in America but over here they both aired on SBS for some unknown reason. I watched some of 'Beauty and the Beast' and that aired on Fox 8 too but I gave up with it 'cause it kept going away for long periods of time and not coming back and when it came back it would air at weird hours or it was against too many other shows we were recording.
I am hoping the DC Universe does take off and they invest more money in it 'cause it will most likely mean we will get to see more superheroes and villains we have never seen in movies or TV shows before and with Animation being cheaper I have a feeling there are going to be more animated TV shows added to it aside from'Harley Quinn' and the new season of 'Young Justice' and they might even use the DC Online Streaming Service to premiere some of their newest Animated movies. I am interested in how many old DC TV shows they are going to be able to air 'cause some of them are still being repeated on other channels like the 'Batman' TV show with Adam West whch is going to be on the Syfy Channel next month.

SyFy does what Netflix does a lot and claims programs as theirs for branding when they aren't really, Shadowhunters is a "Netflix Original" show that's actually a Freeform program that Netflix simply acquired for international distribution, currently SyFy has Wynonna Earp & Killjoys as imported or brought shows from other networks, both being Canadian originally.
Only thing with animation is how long it takes to do at a high quality, so they kind of need to prepare and commit to shows further out than live action to keep a routine going, a cool thing imo would be to make an anthology series which could be live action or animated where they can do 1 off episodes of characters and see just how well they are received so they can figure what shows to move on for the future, BBC did this back in the day with a show called 7 of 1 with Ronnie Barker, they did 7 one of sitcom episodes with the hopes of finding a few full sitcom programs to cherry pick from, which they did and we got Porridge & Open All Hours, though the beeb did fuck up as it was meant to be 6 of 1 so that a 2nd series could be done called half a dozen of the other.
We said it before but I would love to see them do continuations of some older shows in animated form, I know Batman 66 is impossible but couldn't they do a wonder woman animated show with Linda Carter voicing her or maybe a one off DC Universe exclusive animated film in the series style with her as Wonder Woman, a series could be fun though and they should if they did hire the guys behind the Wonder Woman 77 comic to write it as their already doing that stuff for the comics anyway, so many possibilities and so many new characters to learn about, I'm really hoping DC does a The Question live action show as he was great on JLU plus that would be relatively low budget I would think...cant wait to see the shows were going to get, DC hurry the fuck up you bastards I want shows and I want them NOW!!!

Ohhh. Okay. I was originally under the impression Universal owned all the TV Shows ‘cause they own the Universal Channel, Syfy Channel and 13th Street and they frequently advertise the shows that are on the free channels and share them with each other. ‘The Librarians’, ‘Haven’, ‘The Dead Zone’ and ‘Warehouse 13’ were all shows that aired on the Universal Channel here before they moved over to the Syfy Channel when the Sci Fi Channel’ become the ‘Syfy Channel’ and all the disaster movies that aired on the Universal Channel also moved to Syfy. Syfy advertises them as ‘Syfy Original shows’ and they do the same with their movies and it is misleading when they don’t own some of them but that must be part of the agreement the shows or other networks signed to get aired on their channel.
I am not very familiar with all the streaming services in America but I know we have a few TV shows airing on Foxtel and SBS that air on Hulu and Amazon on America like ‘Marvel’s The Runaways’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Cloak & Dagger’ which air on Fox 8 and SBS and we also have some Netflix TV shows airing on Foxtel and Network channel shows in America on Netflix. From what I have read we are going to get the animated ‘Harley Quinn’ and Season 3 of ‘Young Justice’ on Netflix and ‘Swamp Thing’ and ‘Titans’ are going to air on Fox 8 here so it sadly doesn’t sound like we will be getting the DC Online Streaming Service here but we will be getting all their shows. We are still missing a lot of the newest shows from America and Canada here and I am not sure why but we don’t seem to get as many new American TV shows as we used to.
The Syfy Channel have been letting us down with a lot of shows lately too and we didn’t get ‘Happy’ or ‘Van Helsing’ and I have been buying the latter on DVD and they seem more interested in playing repeats of old shows than new shows now. The newest series of ’12 Monkeys’ aired here on Sunday night and that’s one of the few new shows we have got on the Syfy Channel along with ‘Krypton’ and ‘The Magicians’ and I thought after ‘Dark Matter’ got cancelled they would have finally picked up the ‘Van Helsing’ TV show but they are airing the ‘Batman/ Adam West’ show instead. Speaking of Adam West I recall reading somewhere Burt Ward and him were working on a third Batman animated film before he died and I don’t know if it was finished but if it was they might release it. It is hard to do an animated show of the Adam West show now like they could replace him with another voice actor to work with Burt Ward but I don’t think a lot of fans would want that.
A ‘Wonder Woman’ animated series with Lynda Carter would be fantastic and it might allow them to use a lot of the Wonder Woman villains DC wouldn’t let them use on the Live Action show like Silver Swan, Medusa, Decay, Cheetah, Circe, Strife, Giganta, Blue Snowman, Hypnota and Villainy Inc along with both Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark. Hopefully we finally get to see a lot of those characters in the movies and I think the third ‘Wonder Woman’ should have Wonder Woman with Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark against Villainy Inc. Villainy Inc. was the first team of supervillains in DC and it comprised of Cheetah, Eviless, Giganta, Hypnota, Queen Clea, Zara, Blue Snowman and Doctor Poison and we have already had Doctor Poison in a movie so I would replace her with Medusa making it a very hard team for Dinah, Donna and Cassie to fight.

A team of 3 female heroes and an all female team of villains? Debbie, Are you looking to incite the angry jealous white men online? There would be no men in this movie. No men.

Ohhh.

As an angry white man im all for it so long as DC & WB don't fuck it up, make a good film and I don't care if it's got more chicks than dicks, what do I care if there is more gash than stache, tits than gits, sluts than nuts...ok im gonna stop now, because I cant think of anymore, plus that's really childish but I couldn't help myself...sorry.

That's all I want: Make it good and don't fuck it up. But, sadly, considering their track recored, I am not going to hold my breath.
