Oh damn I tried lord knows I tried but I cannot hold back any longer, imo the film after the initial dipshits responses basically adopted the attitude the only reason you don't like it is because you are a sexist, which doesn't aid in constructive criticism, the reason I disliked it was because it lacked all the charm of the original, the original was for what it was scary, characters had stakes to their actions and felt like real people in an implausible situation, the remake was slapstick, the same old same old from McCarthy and also more a parody of the original than a remake, but those criticism were met with almost nothing but "Nah youd have loved it if they were guys, sexist pig", which is not an attitude I respond well to. But we see it all the time, look at the Marvel Vs. DC feud, or the Felicity fan rebellion on Arrow, the SW backlash ignorance and unwillingness to accept criticism just riles up the fans and causes the ill feelings to grow to where people do get really annoyed and angry, obviously some twats go way too far early and usually paint all those with issues with the same brain damaged brush but still the studios and the like are also to blame for basically telling what fans do like the product or direction, you are right for liking this everyone who doesn't is this, go defend us. And I dunno how many people would have liked the film if it were all male cast, I mean most people don't like GB2 either, so I kind of have to disagree if the film was good it wouldn't have gotten the reaction it did, but had the studio and director not tried to hide the fact they made a meh film by hiding behind no the films good their all just sexist, maybe they wouldn't have gotten as much crap as they did, obviously some idiots are always going to be the dregs of humanity in any given situation, but I honestly don't think the mass criticism and financial failure the film suffered was due to people not giving it a fair shake on the grounds of the cast being primarily women. I must be in the minority here ‘cause I actually liked ‘Ghostbusters 2’ even more than the first movie and I think it gets a lot of hate from fans that it doesn’t deserve just ‘cause it’s different than the first movie and the Ghostbusters aren’t hailed as heroes after the events of the first movie and looking at things now I don’t think the movie would have worked very well if they had gone in that path ‘cause it would have made things far too easy for them and Dan and Harold were obviously against it ‘cause you see in the game which was based on one of the three scripts they wrote for Ghostbusters 3 they weren’t famous and highly regarded by people and they were still in the same position they were in during the first two movies with Walter Peck trying to get them shut down saying ghosts aren’t real.
Overall I thought ‘Ghostbusters 2’ was funnier, had more memorable lines, a better soundtrack and I liked the addition of Peter MacNicol’s character, Dr. Janosz and how they made Louis Tully become a Ghostbuster in the end and my only problem with it was why they couldn’t use Slimer like they did in the cartoons and comics and have him as a good ghost that helped the Ghostbusters. Slimer did help Louis in the second movie but he wasn’t in it much and he didn’t talk. It is a shame Harold Ramis and Bill Murray had a falling out and didn’t get back on friendly terms again until right before Harold died ‘cause we could have had ‘Ghostbusters 3’ back in 1992 when it was originally planned and the other two scripts could have been made into ‘Ghostbusters 4 and 5’ but we did get the game and I thought the game was pretty good and I have played the two different versions of the game a few times.
I think the sequel they were talking about having before Harold died with Alyssa Milano, Anna Farris, Eliza Dushku and Paul Rudd as the new team of Ghostbusters being trained by the original team who were getting too old to do it would have been better than the 2016 movie and we have talked about this before but I think it would having Ilyssa become a Ghostbuster would have been the perfect way to connect the movies on to the game and the movie would have essentially been 'Ghostbusters 4.' Right now, I think they should make a sequel to the 2009 game with one of the other two scripts Dan and Harold wrote 'cause both Dan and Harold said they wanted to make another game and they could replace Harold's voice with another actor that sounds similar. That way we get another 'Ghostbusters' in the original continuity and the scripts don't go to waste. Maybe they could get Rick and Sigourney for it this time too.

I actually like GB2 myself also, not as much as 1, I think the problem is GB2 went a little more comedy comedy where as GB1 was more serious but with silliness in it, like the funniness came from the characters who weren't so off they became slapstick, where as in 2 there was a lot more whacky behaviour, and GB2016 basically went even further with that making the entire film a joke, which always makes me laugh because why emulate and go further along the lines of the film most people don't like as much instead of the universally loved original film?
The idea of the Eliza, Rudd, Farris & Milano GB has always been one I would have liked to see as they can all do the balance of fun but serious acting that the OG GB had, plus I like all of those performers, so that or I would have loved if they did a live action film of the EGB if they wanted more of a balance just turn Roland into a woman also, that way you have a diverse cast of characters, a fair balance of men and women and plus I loved the EGB show.
I still don't get how they thought GB2016 was going to be the launch of a new GB franchise, I mean like I said it was a parody more than anything else how do you do a parody franchise of a movie series that only had 2 films? it was so silly.
I hope if they try again in the future they just try and play it serious, it's sadly easy to set up now because of Ramis's passing, and you can really just copy the EGB set up but just include Egon having died as part of it, but I don't know if they will ever try again, also I don't think Akroyd at times helps things moving forward because of what he may come out with.

I like Ghostbusters 2. Which is why I have a poster of Vigo the Butch in my living room.

Yeah. You’re right about that. ‘Ghostbusters 2 had more comedic elements and was less serious than the first movie and I think some fans might have thought they went a little too over the top with that and should have scaled it back but you know, the funny thing is I recently read ‘Ghostbusters’ wasn’t meant to have any comedy elements in it originally and Dan Akroyd wrote it as a full on Horror story as opposed to an Action Comedy movie with Horror elements which was what we got at the end and according to Dan Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman were the ones who added all the Comedy elements into it and his original vision for ‘Ghostbusters’ was a lot darker. The third ‘Ghostbusters’ movie that was going to be made in the 90s used the original script Dan Akroyd wrote and had them going into the ghost world and different dimensions and facing demons and ghosts.
The Ghost World and demons ended up being used in the ‘Ghostbusters (2009)’ video game and that would be interesting to have seen in a live action movie and if they ever try to remake ‘Ghostbusters again they should try to adapt the original script as a Horror movie instead of copying the old movies and have them go into the Ghost World with demons crossing over into our world killing people and that would make it very different than the 2016 reboot. Aside from the third movie there were plans to have ‘Ghostbusters’ crossover with ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ with the Ghostbusters facing off with the Freddy Kreuger and that would have been fun to see in a movie if they could have got it to work and it is a shame Bill Murray and Harold Ramis’ falling out stopped so many other movies from happening.
We could have had at least 5 or 6 movies since there were three different scripts left over as I mentioned in my previous post and going with a reboot with a completely different script was a waste and could have been better if they had Dan Akroyd in charge of things. Did you know Dan Akroyd’s real parents were paranormal investigators that investigated ghosts and knew a lot about them and Dan grew up learning a lot about ghosts from them which was the inspiration for ‘Ghostbusters?’ Not only was his original ‘Ghostbusters’ script darker but Dan said that he used more of the real things he learned off his parents about ghosts in it and they were going to use real ghost equipment. I am surprised they never tried to make a Live Action movie of ‘Extreme Ghostbusters before’ ‘cause they could have made that without Bill Murray getting in the way but perhaps the studios didn’t want any other ‘Ghostbusters’ movies at the time that didn’t have the original cast.
I think there will be another ‘Ghostbusters’ movie and it was announced last year they were working on an animated ‘Ghostbusters’ movie and Dan Akroyd was involved in it so maybe that might end up being the movie him and Harold Ramis originally wanted to make with the old Ghostbusters training new Ghostbusters but we will have to wait and see what they do.

I could be mistaken, but what I remember reading most as the reason Ghostbusters 3 was never made, was that Dan, Harold and Bill had an equal stake/ownership in the franchise, or some such thing; and with Bill as a hold out they couldn't move forward with it, even without him.
I do know he pulled similar weight with the original animated series. He complained that he was being "voice by Garfield" (same voice actor) and had him replaced.

The way they were talking about ‘Ghostbusters’ before Harold Ramis passed away was like Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis had full ownership over the franchise and it was said on a site that if Harold Ramis lived ‘Ghostbusters (2016) wouldn’t have legally been able to go through unless Sony had gotten permission from Harold Ramis to make it. I read Ivan Reitman had shares over it and sold them to Sony right before the remake was made and I might be wrong with this but I think what may have happened was Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman had ownership of ‘Ghostbusters’ and when Harold Ramis passed away his shares reverted to Sony and once Ivan sold his shares off to Sony they gained the majority of the shares and therefore had control over the franchise.
Dan must still has ownership to an extent since he is the one working on a ‘Ghostbusters’ animated movie now and he talks about making new 'Ghostbusters' adaptions very often.

The rights for properties like these are often confusing especially when you have various sites reporting different things and I don’t know if you have heard the latest update but it looks like ‘Ghostbusters 3’ is back on according to Dan Aykroyd and it will be the sequel fans have wanted to see that continues on in the original timeline and ignores the remake. It doesn't sound like he is using one of the scripts he wrote with Harold Ramis when he was still alive 'cause they are saying it is being written but I am hoping it takes some ideas from that and they have it continue on to the 2009 game. I am surprised this was never considered before 'cause Sigourney Weaver was awesome as Ripley and she could be good as a Ghostbuster. According to Dan they are trying to put it together and there is a possibility it could happen soon but looking back at the history of this franchise Dan and Harold (before he passed away) said in so many interviews 'Ghostbusters 3' was going to happen and we are still waiting for it and Harold is gone and I think it could be too late. I think they should make another video game that continues on from the 2009 game 'cause they said they wanted to make another one or they could make an animated movie which would allow all of them to be younger again and I could see Bill Murray signing up for that since he returned for the game.

I have been saying for sometime another 'Ghostbusters' movie was going to happen after the things Dan has been saying about it in interviews and what some were saying would never happen is happening now and the new movie is going through and has been confirmed to be taking place in the original continuity. Whether that includes the 2009 video game or not remains to be seen but Dan said that was an official part of continuity. What seems to be an odd is Ernie Hudson doesn't know if he is going to be in the movie or not and it would be an absolute joke if he isn't since he is one of the main characters and fans want to see him return with Dan and Bill.
