8/10.
The only LGBT movie that actually packs a punch and isn’t boring pandering Oscar bait.

I like ‘Moonlight’, there’s some great scenes and the score is one of my favorites, but ‘Brokeback’ had me thinking about it long after the credits rolled.

Does "Call Me By Your Name" measure up to BM? I haven't seen that yet. It depends what you like. For me? No. 'Brokeback' really had an emotional impact, it was depressing with an ambiguous ending. Same with 'Moonlight' but I found that one to be *very* slow. CMBYN is very different from both 'Moonlight' and 'Brokeback'. It's a straightforward romance/erotica in what really is almost a fairy tale setting. There's no conflicts, and the film really just follows two people for a summer. The cinematography, setting, landscapes, sets, costumes, etc... all really add to the film and are most certainly the highlights. But it doesn't have those deeper themes to chew on that 'Brokeback' had. It's a very straightforward albeit well done movie.

The synopsis sounds pretty funny.

An 8 for me. It's not bad, but seems to drag on a bit. It's been a while since I've seen it, might have to rewatch it.

Wonderful film.
The acting from Heath Ledger in the last half-hour is as good as you'll ever see. ROBBED of the Oscar.
