Cons - The scenes in the desert bring the film to a crawl Some of Eddie Furlong's acting For a film with such landmark visual effects, the rear projection is painfully obvious after driving away from the funny farm. Convenient for The Terminator to have an alternate power source. God forbid Sarah actually saves the day. Speaking of which, when she is shotgunning The T-1000 and needs just one more shell to send him to his death, should have just thrown the shotgun at his head. "I need a vacation"
Pros - The pre-credits scene is still better than anything we've seen of the future war in the following films. Just fucking awesome. Stronger emotional punch then even in the first film. Believable character arc for Sarah Connor. Linda Hamilton is tough and convincing in the role. Arnold is just awesome. Obviously. Little details like when Arnie takes the SWAT van and looks for the keys above the visor. Only makes sense if seeing the Extended Cut.

The Special Edition has Kyle Reese which is a most welcome bridge to The Terminator, & yet that cut also seems to stretch apart screen time for the T-1000. I feel like the tension of the chase is thinned at the expense of more time with Arnold, John & Sarah on the lam.

The kid-friendly aspects were the main negatives. I think Dyson was too willing to blow up his life's work. Forced to help them would have made more sense. I hate the "I need a vacation" line. The moralizing narration was terrible. "If a machine can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too."

I never liked this movie. The first one was a brilliant blend of horror and sci fi," My Pet Terminator" was kiddie crap. Come at me bro!

John teaches him that in the theatrical too, no?
Yeah, the Mexico desert portion was my bathroom break during the rerelease (which I saw on August 29th, incidentally). Where the original was constantly moving and The Terminator was always looming over everything, the T-1000 just disappears from this movie along with his threat.
A scene that's always pissed me off is when those guys come to help John, only for John to provoke them and have The Terminator beat them up. Also, John is 10 years old my ass.
Those are my only real problems. I prefer the tone of the first one, along with The Terminator as villain, but I'm glad this sequel did something different.

Who says it will? A crazy woman, a kid, and a guy with a mechanical arm. Is that really enough? Even if he was obviously a machine-how would Dyson know they are telling the truth about future events? Or for that matter that he and hi family would be safe from the consequences of what they plan to do?

I definitely see a pattern developing here.

There was definitely some lazy writing. For instance, the T-1000 tracks down John by asking these two young girls on the street who just happen to know him and know his whereabouts? Give me a break. Would have made more sense of he got that information from his foster parents. And Arnold just happens to spot John while randomly driving around the freeway.
Those are really the only cons I have. The pros are the high-tech special effects, the eye-popping stunts, and the thrilling intensity of the chases.

I think slicing off your skin to reveal a robot arm identical to the one at Cyberdyne is enough to get his attention.

I think slicing off your skin to reveal a robot arm identical to the one at Cyberdyne is enough to get his attention. But not enough for him to assume if he doesn't blow up his company, the world will explode. Maybe if he ran into the T-1000, he might be convinced. Not to mention he is basically telling his family-hey, I got to go die for these strangers. Sorry about the insurance problems. Bye!

I'm sure his wife would have lingering concerns now also knowing about a nuclear war and killer robots.
