Critic Consensus: A flawed yet fun and fast-paced space adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story should satisfy newcomers to the saga as well as longtime fans who check their expectations at the theater door.

The baggage is everyone, even critics, have for the most part placed Star Wars on a pedestal.
It was a popcorn flick when it came out. Ford was an afterthought. Luke was the hero. Han was dismissed as a standard scoundrel with a heart of gold in some of the reviews I saw. Part of the structure to get Luke to his happy ending

Why'd you hafta go and ruin Star Wars for everyone?

Not really much of surprise to anyone, and it's not as if it's going to bomb...but still interesting. Solo Box Office

I was "That is it?" I was seriously disappointed in the whole virgin birth war hero savior plot. I felt like Lucas stole part of my life. Debates with other fans sbout Vader, etc felt useless.

There was no indication that Shmi was a virgin (look up what the term means). The story was that Plagueis (and Plapatine) manipulated the Force to create life, and thereby created Anakin without knowing it. It's a very subtle and original father reveal. But it requires cogitive skills and focus to realize.
Nowhere in the OT or the PT was it said that Anakin was a war hero or savior (again look up the meaning of words), he was described - by a notorious liar - as a great warrior and pilot, which he was.

Well if you watched The Clone Wars animated show then it actually shows how much of a hero Anakin was in the clone wars and also made him a lot more likable.

I know what a virgin is, dearie I was one until my wedding night. [/p][/quote] She did not have sex with a male prior to becoming pregnant Prefer immaculate conception? I really disliked the "let's mimic the Christian story" Exchange The Force for God. You are such a fanboy. Luke knew about the Clone War as though it was important. More WWII than Operation Urgent Fury. It didnt come across as all that. Lucas started Anakin's story too young. Luke was the youth om the cusp of manhood. 3 movies worked. I didnt buy into Anakin's evolution into Vader. It felt forced. I felt Anakin was pitched in the original trilogy as more than he was shown in the prequels. You cant say how let down I felt
