There needs to be A LOT more 'proof' presented concerning this folklore creature... If anyone will ever take this even remotely seriously...
Because, there are many other more common folklore creatures, with far more 'proof' being presented... which is constantly being 'debunked' by Knee Jerk Skeptics.

Mermaids likely belong in the same category as gnomes, elves, fairies, trolls etc. They're fixtures in lore yes, but I believe they're based on real elementals. Not physical beings but entities that reside in the astral plane but can manifest in the earth plane if they so wish.
