Not only is it better than half of the MCU (granted the worse half, so it's not saying much) but also better than half of the X-Men films as well. Hell it's definitely better than most of the DCEU films as well. Most? As in, not all? What other DCEU film is better than Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman is better than every MCU movie. Not even close, especially on rewatches. I still do enjoy it, but it is middle of the road. No actual unbiased person can put it above movies like The Winter Soldier, The Avengers, Infinity War, Thor 3, or any of the MCUs best.

Wonder Woman is not a junk food film for manchildren. It's a milestone and curse-breaker. You have to compare it to the genre masterpieces like the Nolan-trilogy, Logan or Superman to do it justice.
Comparing WW to MCU formula movies is an uninformed insult. We have seen what happens when MCU do a similar period piece: Juvenile laser battles in WW2 instead of the horrors of war! Flat I-am-beefcake characterization instead of proper character arcs, silly jokes instead of stakes and personal loss...

Man of Steel Despite the angry neck beards autistic screeching that followed the film in 2013 I consider it not only the best DCEU to date, but best Superman film. Fuck those lame ass Christopher Reeve films and that boring ass Superman Returns.

Well to be fair Captain America isn't considered nearly as good as Wonder Woman and is regarded as one of the weakest Marvel movies.

Fuck those lame ass Christopher Reeve films and that boring ass Superman Returns. Yeah I agree with this. I like Wonder Woman but I still think Man of Steel is the best DCEU movie. I didn't mind the original Superman and I did like Superman 2 but I never thought much of the other movies so it is the best Superman for me too. After the boring Superman Returns it was nice to have a Superman movie where he actually hit somebody.

Fuck those lame ass Christopher Reeve films and that boring ass Superman Returns. I enjoyed it except for two things: The third act filled with disaster porn and Jonathan Kent's horrible mischaracterization. Those two elements really brought the film down and while I didn't hate it, I can't say I loved it, either. Being 41 years old, it's hard to compare MOS to the Reeve films because they're so campy compared to anything that's come out in the last 20 years. I could probably enjoy them for the nostalgia factor but that's about it. Superman Returns was terrible, straight up. BvS Superman made no sense and didn't feel like a natural progression from MOS. I will say I enjoyed Supes in the JL movie because it was nice to finally see him smile again.

Well to be fair Captain America isn't considered nearly as good as Wonder Woman and is regarded as one of the weakest Marvel movies. And yet WW still found it necessary to rip off Captain America (besides simply being a period piece war picture). Steve has a final conversation with the woman he loves, then gets on a plane filled with explosives and sacrifices himself to save the world. Which movie am I talking about?

I personally think that The First Avenger is very underrated. I think it is one of the best superhero origin movies ever. Wonder Woman is very good but not as good as First Avenger.

It's a toss up for me until that awful third act in WW. Red Skull is cartoonish but it works in that film. I feel like WW takes itself more seriously, which makes its cartoonish villains that much worse. The crazy scientist chick cackles like the wicked witch at one point, and the video game fight with Ares is a disaster. WW is well crafted for sure, but when it loses its way it really goes off the rails. Not a good way to close out a film. Cap is more solid from start to finish, so I guess overall I'd say advantage The First Avenger. And the closing scene with the kids using the trash can lid as Cap's shield gives me chills every time.

How is that similar?
