I'm with you. They seem like they exist just for the color.
For cooking or spiciness, yellow are fine. I like white onions a lot, but I need better contrast between the skin and the rest of it. Tougher to peel. For taste, Vidalia or Texas sweet onions.

I like red onions in a salad. However, for cooking or tacos, etc., I wouldn't use a red onion.

I mean, they're not bad by any means. But all other onions are better in every way. What say you? Onions (with other foods) is one of my favorite foods. Any color is fine with me.
