What are you blabbering. You have talk to me once and all of a sudden you know who I am? Give me a break.
Marketing costs are not forgotten, just often offset by other things. Like in film advertising or toy lines for example for Star Wars.
On what planet does "highly unlikely" = denial?
I have read a number of articles which have said the budget is "at least $250 million." You read an article that says the budget is $250 million. Cool. I never said that it isn't.
Disney won't see much of the money made from ancillaries for ages. A movie is judged as a success or a failure based on it's performance in theaters. $250 million budget + $125 million marketing = $375 million. Even allowing for a fifty/fifty split with theater chains worldwide (which we know there isn't), Solo would need to gross $750 million to break even on it's theatrical run.
You are the one in denial. 750 million is not needed for Solo to start making profit. That is ludicrous. Double the budget has been the general rule since the theater and studio deals got restructured about 17 years ago. This is why you often see movies get sequels greenlit that hit this marker. www.google.com/amp/s/io9.gizmodo.com/5747305/how-much-money-does-a-movie-need-to-make-to-be-profitable/ampThis article is a good read. A tad bit old on topics like overseas and home video sales, but still important.

A tad bit old on topics like overseas and home video sales, but still important. According to the book The Hollywood Economist by Edward Jay Epstein, studios take in about 40 percent of the revenue from overseas release — and after expenses, they're lucky if they take in 15 percent of that number.
Yeah, "Solo" only needs $500 million to break even.

Yeah, "Solo" only needs $500 million to break even. Didn't listen to what I said at all. Good day sir. Hope you have a good holiday.

Disney and Lucasfilms's Solo: A Star Wars Story topped the Memorial Day holiday weekend box office, but the film fell well short of expectations, raising a few valid questions. Was it too soon to release another Star Wars movie five months after the last installment and was the competition just too stiff from the likes of Deadpool 2 and Disney's own Avengers: Infinity War?
With an estimated $83.3 million over the three-day weekend, Solo: A Star Wars Story is the weekend's #1 film and while Disney is currently anticipating a $101 million, the question remains as to whether it will be able to bring in enough to reach $100 million over the four-day holiday frame. Disney entered the weekend projecting a performance anywhere from $130-150 million for the four-day weekend and with a reported $300 million price tag before prints and advertising this weekend's performance is extremely disappointing.

Reports have now confirmed the movie will lose between 50 and 80 million dollars. It will end its global run around 400 million. Clearly my number was more in line with the break even number than yours.

Literally nobody believes that BS.
