There are 2 types of quirky whimsical movies: A) Those that charm you from beginning to end. B) Those that charm for you for a short period of time and eventually exhaust you. LE FABULEUX DESTIN D'AMÉLIE POULAIN (AMÉLIE) falls in the latter category. The music score, the cinematography and Audrey Tautou’s performance are great, but most of the supporting characters are uninteresting. 6/10 ------------------------ You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

I don't enjoy 'Amelie'. It's too saccharine even for my tastes. I much prefer Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 'A Very Long Engagement' (2004) which also stars Audrey Tautou.

Jeunet's Amelie and Delicatessen would be in my top 10 every day of the year.
