for general basic DATA burning... ImgBurn ( www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/imgburn.html ) also, if your trying to have a Bluray player play a .mkv video file just put it on a USB thumb drive and play it that way if you can as the Samsung bluray player we have can play .mkv files directly from a USB thumb drive although the thumb drive seems to require NTFS format as in exFAT format it simply does not see the drive. NOTE: I just use my computer to play video files and then drag the video to the TV side and play it full screen. I got my computer connected to a 24" 1080p PC monitor using the typical DVI connection and then got it also connected to my TV using HDMI connection. so it's basically like a got a dual monitor setup although I only use the TV side when I play video like movies etc otherwise I just use the general computer monitor.

Admin That version I linked to does not include any junk in it ; that's why I linked to majorgeeks site instead of the official imgburn.com the majorgeeks site is using a older installer as the one on the official site seems to have been 'updated' with the junk you mention even though they are both the exact same version which is v2.5.8.0 (you can even compare the files downloaded as you will see they are different). either way, I would assume you can uncheck the BS stuff so it's not included.
p.s. ImgBurn has been my 'go to' burning software for many years for DATA (hell, it's what many used for burning XBox360 game backups years ago). for AUDIO CD's (I don't burn these much anymore but once in a while) I typically use CDBurnerXP. but make sure to get the minimal installer... www.cdburnerxp.se/en/download ; then go to 'more download options' and select "Default installer (Without installCore)". but with that said... one thing I do like better with ImgBurn that CDBurnerXP does not allow is overburning AUDIO CD's as normally you are limited to 80min MAX with AUDIO but since ImgBurn allows overburning (assuming your burner supports overburning, which mine does) you can fit like 81-82min or so on there. basically as much as the disc allows which will probably be about 81-82min or so as I would not push it too far but I would assume most discs should be able to do at least 81min or so as that extra couple of minutes can come in handy here and there when making a random CD compilation where you go a little over the 80min mark which normally you would have to remove some songs but not with the overburning option ; I even tested them on a old CD player we had since the early 1990's and it works fine. and naturally... when burning a standard audio CD I never use lossy files (i.e. MP3/AAC etc) and always use lossless (i.e. WAV/FLAC/ALAC etc) as that keeps audio quality as good as can be. but I basically have my CD's etc in FLAC format so I can always convert from there to any lossy format/bit rate of my choice for use on portable players etc.
