My #1 MCU film, but unlike the poll suggests, I would not bring back Whedon.
I love the Avengers being dealt having to be kicked offline as it were, and having to fend for themselves with few allies all at once. The characters also have to face introspective, it's no longer just infallible ppl running around together without personas crashing into one another. Rogers - Stark Stark - Fury Banner - Natasha Banner - Stark Thor - cosmic wtf puzzle solving Clint - family Clint - Quicksilver Vision - Ultron
Sure, Ultron was no Thanos, & yet why the f'n rush? This isn't the stupid DCU where every f'n producer failed the marshmallow test as a 3yr old & again as 33yr olds.
To top it off, AOU has most of my favourite MCU moments & lines. 'Worthy...? No... how could you be worthy, you're all killers'. 'If you get hurt, hurt'em back. If you get killed, walk it off'. 'I'm only going to say this once'. 'How about nunce'.
Hell, even the train derailment is a Spider-Man 2 callback for me, Captain America faced with stopping the train & saving everyone.

A movie for assholes. Whedon’s jokes were gayer than ever and he’s not allowed back at the MCU because of how terrible it is 😂 Go home, Joss Whedon!

Everyone who is a fuckwit loves him and when you ask why they say ‘pop cultural references’ and ‘irreverence’ 🤢. Also ‘strong female characters’ which he does by making them good at fighting!? Um yeah anyone can do that. That’s not a strong female character Whedon you ass.

I definately agree with the female character thing. He basically turns them into badass alpha male stereotypes, and we're supposed to see them as good strong characters even though they're cliched as hell.

He doesn’t get that making them warriors doesn’t make them strong characters. Because he can’t create strong characters, he can only ruin strong characters like he did with Coulsen.

Ultron came across as Cheesy and plus Kat wasn't in it. 5.5/10 Kat was too ugly to be in it.

Yeah, although I like Scarlet in the role I've always been lukewarm on Black Widow because she's basically that stereotypical Whedon version of a "strong" female character and she's never grown beyond that. I do think though that The Avengers mostly displays all of Whedon's best qualities and is a superb movie while AoU displays all of Whedon's worst qualities and falls flat because of it.

Black Widow was never a badass in either of Joss Whedon's movies in my opinion. Her relationship with Banner is probably still the best thing in tne MCU for me personally.

To me that relationship was just another big hypocrisy that is common with supposedly strong female characters in modern movies... Let's make them strong and smart and independent... But still use them for the cliched relationship story- because they're women among men, right? Naturally they have to screw one of them! God forbid maybe you have a female lead that doesn't fall in love with one of her male co stars. It's like in the new Star Wars movies where Rey is this female warrior that can do anything, but she still has a stupid school girl crush on Kylo Ren.
