A guy named JAKE WILKINSON must arrive to his family's house on Christmas Eve at 18:00 in order to win his dad's Porsche. His dad came up with this idea as an incentive, since he doesn't think that JAKE would go otherwise. Unfortunately, a group of jocks leave him in the desert with a SANTA CLAUS suit. Are you paying attention to me or are you concentrated on that vulture? It appears in just 1 scene but, since it's a Disney movie, it has to be in the poster so we think it's JAKE's sidekick. When the movie starts, JAKE changes the plane ticket to New York that his dad bought for 2 tickets to Cabo San Lucas as a surprise for ALLIE HENDERSON, his girlfriend. ALLIE gets angry at JAKE because she feels that he doesn't appreciate his family. The travel agent calls JAKE's dad. After the car offer, JAKE changes the 2 tickets for 2 tickets to New York (ALLIE's family also lives there). His dad doesn't know about this. Why didn't the travel agent call him again? ------------------------------------- You can read the full review in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian) and/or watch the 2-part video review:

We used to watch this movie every Christmas. It had just the right amount of humor, silliness, yet warmth at the end to be both entertaining and endearing. Not sure why we stopped except there's so many new Christmas movies every year, we're always trying out new ones. A lot of the old standards fall by the wayside.
I noted that the woman who played Allie shows up again in Elizabethtown.
I also saw a lot of influence of Tim Allen in Jakes character, played by Jonathan Taylor, which would be expected since he worked with Allen in Home Improvement. The one part I didn't like in the move was how Jake treated his supposed buddy and side kick, Ian. It made me less sympathetic to Jake's predicaments. But since I rip movies and edit them, I can take out small parts I find annoying and enjoy the movie more on the whole.
