I was watching this video about why modern art is bad and I think there is a correlation to why bad movies like Transformers are big hits. There are low standards now for what makes a good movie and there are low standards now for what is a good painting.

Look how far blockbusters have fallen since the 70s. Blockbusters like "Jaws" and "Star Wars" had a degree of artistic merit, "Transformers" and "Jurassic World" don't have a shred of artistry.

Traditional art standards were made for the most part by white European males. This is why it has to be trashed.
I heard the head of England's teacher union said Shakespeare is irrelevant.
But there's the thing, if these movie studios are about money-why are they rejecting traditional standards of merit? Either it means people love garbage (because they know nothing different) or it doesnt matter what the public thinks because money is not a problem.
Not to mention, there is no competition. The only people allowed as an alternative are ideologically-loyal companies like Blumhouse. They control the gate so if you are traditionalist, you will find it hard to make a professional living. The media companies will not promote you either because they do not want to highlight anything off theme.
That apron story is funny.

Also, one of the 45 goals of Communists for America is "23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.” I highly doubt this is a mere coincidence. cultureshield.com/PDF/45_Goals.pdf

^Predictable Communist response. Predictable evidence-free response from a lunatic who has no interest in objective, verifiable realty.

And bad art in general. History will decide what will survive from this era 100 or 500 years from now, and I can guarantee you it won't be Transformers.

Jaws, Star Wars(1977), and Jurassic Park(1993) are the Mona Lisa while Transformers, Man of Steel, and Jurassic WORLD are that shit smeared on a canvas in the Modern Art gallery.

Things should be better -- it's SO easy to make a movie. And one can put it on YouTube, etc.,
BUT... It seems like we have businessmen now, and sometimes they can't even do that! Many don't have brains, so they use CGI, car chases, nudity, violence... but no writing, no convincing acting. Conformity is the biggest killer, but that's all over society.
I'd have to blame the audience for constantly eating whatever is being fed.

Movies and color in movies keep getting uglier and uglier, too. Even Spielberg movies like Ready Player One look like crap and it seems intentional.

And bad art in general. History will decide what will survive from this era 100 or 500 years from now, and I can guarantee you it won't be Transformers. This. Chuck Klosterman had a solid book 'But What if We're Wrong?' recently, which I listened to rather than read. Anyways, there's some thoughts about future hindsight as it were - that no can really predict pop culture tastes because of what transpires between a now & a then. One would have to dissect & correctly predict every other year & era between point x & y to make sense of it, including news, world affairs, economics, & overall mood of humanity. Maybe in 70yrs, ppl will be hoarding movies about boating. Who's to say. It's a Wonderful Life, Citizen Kane, 2 milestone films, took decades to find mass appeal. That also boils down to generic good & bad labels. What's considered good today could very well (& likely) be considered bad 10-15yrs from now.
