Which 'god' ought an atheist to pray to, Arlon? That of money, physical attractiveness, or military accomplishment?

Kitchen implements are okay. You can also pray to no one in particular, "I hope and pray no war breaks out."

You can also pray to no one in particular, "I hope and pray no war breaks out." Yes, that would probably work just as well to choosing a god beforehand. I wonder why?

One can be humble yet still keep one's intellectual standards, Arlon. To pray and expect result one needs to chose a purported deity. To chose a god one needs evidence. Can you show me the difference between a real and an imaginary one outside of personal credulity and the claims of their respective scriptures?
And weren't you the one who listed his achievements and experiences a while back?

A "god" which is an abstract ethical system is just as real as baseball. You cannot understand that because the baseball is a material, visible object and an abstract ethical system is not "made of" any material like leather. Nevertheless just as many people attend baseball games, many people attend religious services. Each is accomplishing some purpose. In the case of religion it happens to be far over your head. As for "evidence" there are mountains of it that you simply choose to ignore. You are not entitled to say it doesn't exist. You are entitled to say you haven't seen it yourself. I'm sure you haven't seen it yourself anyway, no need to bother saying.

You really ought to be arguing that there is both Deism and Theism in the world. Well, duh. But thank you for the condescension. It is easy to ignore something which is never shown. What is the positive evidence for the deliberate supernatural then Arlon, outside of personal credulity and the claims of scripture? You know, I think I have asked this before. Last time you gave none and claimed that positive evidence is just as difficult as the negative variety, or something LOL
Also since I do not say that your god does not exist (and in fact would never say that) it is your first straw man of the current exchange.

Because Donald Trump. Please note: Atheists can pray for peace now too. In other newsI know people who went to church just after Kennedy was shot. I know people who went to church just before they were sent to Vietnam. I know people who went to church the afternoon on 11-September-2001. I know people who went to church after they found out they had lung cancer. In no case was there any evidence that something was accomplished. The person who had lung cancer died 16 months later, just as the doctor had predicted. Two hands working do more than a thousand clasped in prayer. Madalyn Murray O'Hair

I don't recall Jesus being specific about kinds when he said that. Not even a single adjective like "mighty". But from the context I would infer that he didn't have "merely decorative" swords in mind.

Trump chump.
A foot on the fat throat of Kim, and threats to annihilate his country piece by piece until he cries uncle is how it should have gone.

Please note: Atheists can pray for peace now too. Not this one. I can hope for peace, but I cannot pray for it.

Praying for peace is like asking for a unicorn.
