I just wanted to share this with everybody. I was going to post it when I was on here last but didn't get around to it. This is amazing news. I am really hoping it launches here in Australia now 'cause I will be getting it for the comic books. It sounds like they could have the entire Rebirth and New 52 lineup along with older comic books and that has me sold 'cause it would be an extremely cheap way to get all the latest comic books and older ones I am still buying. The cost and quality of programs will make or break this. Personally I think it's too niche to last long.

I agree with you about the quality of the programs making or breaking this but I have no problem with them axing the programs altogether if they fail and just having the comic books on it as a DC Online Comic Book Service. The comic books are what have my interest with this could be the cheapest way in history to buy comic books and graphic novels. I am surprised Marvel haven't done it too since they made some of the 'Spider-Man' comic books available to read in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' video games.

Isn't that what comixology for? It is but I don't think we can use Comixology here in Australia 'cause when I tried to look into buying some comic books on their site a few years ago I got some message saying it wasn't available to use in my region and we have that message with a few sites that won't accept customers from outside of North America.

I love that they put the horrible Birds of Prey TV series in their banner. Guess they really want to reach out to the one person who loves it.

I love that they put the horrible Birds of Prey TV series in their banner. Guess they really want to reach out to the one person who loves it. Yeah. That is a really bad call. Out of all the DC TV shows that had to be one of the most hated ones (not just by 'Birds of Prey' fans but the creator and writers) 'cause of what they did to the characters in it and the thing about that adaption is it debuted to high ratings (higher ratings than what Smallville was getting too) but a lot of fans dropped it after the first episode 'cause of how awful it was. The success of its first episode was something very similar to the Helen Slater 'Supergirl' movie which debuted at number one at the Box Office and dropped off when word got around of how bad it was but the industry used the excuse of the failure of movies and TV shows like 'Supergirl' and 'Birds of Prey' as an excuse not to make more female lead movies based on comic books for a long time and blamed them having female leads even though debuting at number one showed the interest was there and people didn't want to see it when they heard how bad the writing was. I think they added 'Birds of Prey' to the picture 'cause they wanted to have a female lead show in the picture but what would have been better would have been adding a new female lead show.

Where is Flash Gordon and the Green Hornet? They were popular back in the day or do they belong to Marvel with the Mighty Morphine Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Flash Gordon has been in developmental Hell for a long time. Originally we were supposed to get a Flash Gordon film directed by Stephen Sommers but then that died when Van Helsing crashed and burned.
We did have a Green Hornet movie, though as an action comedy with Seth Rogen in the lead. It did not do very well and I think people are afraid to approach the property at the moment.

Cjdull76 is right. 'Flash Gordon' has been in developmental hell for a long time and I wasn't aware Stephen Sommers was going to make a movie but it died when 'Van Helsing' flopped but there was a short lived TV show in 2007 that had Eric Johnson and Gina Holden who were both in 'Smallville' and we didn't get that here and I think it was 'cause it only lasted for one season. The 'Green Hornet' movie with Seth Rogen was horrible and Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles don't belong to DC or Marvel but I am surprised the companies didn't try to buy them 'cause of their success.

Believe me. You did not miss anything. The show was dull and Flash Gordon in name only.

It didn't do well at the box office and was universally (heh) reviled.
Not even Hugh Jackman's popularity could save it.

Believe me. You did not miss anything. The show was dull and Flash Gordon in name only. So I heard. I am surprised they didn't put more effort into it after how popular 'Flash Gordon' was in the past and how many years they had to make it but I suppose the same could be said about 'The Bionic Woman' remake and for every 'Hawaii Five-O' remake that has gone on to be very popular and have multiple seasons there have been a ton of remakes and reboots that have been horrible and we have seen the new trailer for the remake of 'Magnum, P.I.' and it looks horrible and I don't think 'Magnum' can work now 'cause it was made in the 80s and had a very 80s feel to it.

'Van Helsing' was a flop and while I didn't think it was that bad either and liked the video game too I can see why it didn't get any sequels and the TV show based on the comic book series by Zenescope is the best adaption we have had in some time and it has been renewed for a third season which will air later this year.

Universal seems to have nothing but bad luck trying to do new versions of their classic monsters. Van Helsing, Dracula untold, and The Mummy were all colossal disappointments.
Hopefully they can turn that around.

Hopefully they can turn that around. Yeah. I am hoping they can too. They have a lot of great classic Horror characters to do it with so they are not lacking in that field but they need to hire better writers in my opinion and spend more time on the movies before releasing them. Have you heard Jason Blum wants to take over the Dark Universe? What are your thoughts on that and do you think he could save it? He also wants to take over the 'Alien' and 'Scream' franchises and I think 'Scream' is pretty much dead and there is not much else they can do with it but I still want to see the 'Alien' movie with Sigourney returning as Ripley and we might finally get it under him.

Well so far the biggest problem is when they revamp the characters they don't look like the Universal Monsters, Another is they tried to build a cinematic universe first and tell a compelling story second.
I think I had heard about Steve Blum wanting to tackle the Dark Universe. Could be interesting. Can't be worse then what has been done so far.
