I just came back from seeing it. Nobody else has made a thread to give their impression on the movie yet which is understandable I suppose as it's not out yet in the US but came out last week here. I loved Jurassic World so I was really looking forward to this one.
It's not as good as Jurassic World. I would feel the majority will think that as well. The movie is made up of say two halves, the first half with them on the island and the second half where they're in the mansion.
The first half was the superior half. The movie had a great opening, I would say the best opening to a Jurassic Park movie. After that the concept was set up ok, they went to the island fairly quickly and there were some pretty good set pieces there.
The second half....didn't feel like your oridinary Jurassic Park movie, it was quite a bit darker than Jurassic World. They introduced the Indo Raptor who was pretty good but not as good as the I-Rex and the movie didn't revolve around him as much.
The final battle with the Indo Raptor was again not bad but not nearly as memorable as the final battle from the last one.
I think there was too much focus again on the evil humans and the weaponising of the dinosaurs. They had that in the last one but the movie didn't revolve around it unlike this one. I don't care for this part at all and I hope it isn't a thing in anymore of the movies.
A few other bullet points.
- Jeff Goldblum was hardly in the movie, maybe 2 minutes at a push.
- Franklin and Ken were very annoying and I could have done without them.
- The T-Rex was in it here and there but not too much.
- The most disappointing thing if all was with Mosasaurus. The scene in the trailer with it amongst the surfers was a great shot and I was looking forward to that scene....but that was all there was to it. No mayhem involved.
Overall it was a good fun movie with a lot of actions and dinosaurs. Not as good or as memorable as the last one but certainly better than Jurassic Park 3....about on par with The Lost Word so a 7/10 for me.

That's my impression from reviewers;of course I'll likely enjoy it more than them.

Not as good as the last one, huh? Well since I thought the last one was dumber than a box of rocks, I guess this is one for the cheap Tuesday night show instead of full price on opening weekend.

Well I suppose it depends what you disliked about the first one. This one is pretty different.
Whereas Jurassic World was kinda like Jurassic Park with the whole theme park idea. Fallen Kingdom is more like The Lost World except there's more time spent away from island in this one and they really play up the evil humans more than any of the others.

Fallen Kingdom is also pretty dumb but at least it's entertaining. I would say it's a lot better than the previous installment.
