I doubt a December release date would have made much of difference. In Solo's second weekend, no major films opened against it, and it still fell over 65%.

Not buying the boycott claim. The fans aren't that much of a contingent. If the movie was good they would have seen it theatrically. Either it just didnt attract regular moviegoers or Disney had other motives for the film to fail since the main character is supposed to be a "white male hero" type.
The Lone Ranger and John Carter were also considered failures. Would not be surprised if they announce they learned their lesson-the next one will be all about Lando Calrissian.
Disney has the money to buy companies-the film profits of these SW flicks are minuscule. One day operating budget probably.

Seems like Kathleen is trying blame Bob Iger instead of taking responsibility. Its fucking Star Wars, it shouldn't matter when it opens. What a shitshow, this is way worse than WB with DC.

This is definitely the result of boycotting and fanbase alienation. You could make a movie about Rey taking a crap and Chewbacca suffering male pattern baldness. Enough people from the traditional fanbase would still show up to push it over half a billion dollars at least. This film is clearly being affected by fanbase rejection and backlash.

This film is clearly being affected by fanbase rejection and backlash. I mean an organized boycott. Like SW fans meeting online and saying: "hey let's not see it." I dont think it is any conspiracy. Making bad movies will cause less enthusiasm.
