Ehhhh I'm indifferent to this because I do think people aren't really that bothered in the love interests and relationships in these Superhero movies anymore. At one point it did seem like every superhero movie had to have a love interest in it (I think that was Spider-man's fault) but they have toned it down a lot recently. This is the kind of thing better suited for the Netflix shows because they're much more character driven stories and they have time to delve into properly. I remember they made a huge fuss over Valkrie being the first Bi character in the MCU but for the life of me I don't recall anything in the movie that said as much. As a society we need to get to a point where this conversation isn't even necessary. Many of us are already there. I'm a straight, white, atheist male and I want great storytelling, period. I don't care what gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, nationality or religion the character is as long as they're compelling.

I wouldn't say their phasing it out. Star-Lord and Gamora kissed in Infinity War and Tony and Pepper are engaged with a baby being teased. They also displayed heterosexual relationship in Black Panther as well. There's no reason why we can't have a gay relationship in a film, especially in a franchise that's been prominent with straight characters. LGBTQ people exist and have as much of a right to be represented in movies as much as straight people. But then the Thor movies got rid of Jane. Doctor Strange didnt really have one. It played a insignificant part in Black Panther. Even the Spider-man movies where it played a huge part wasnt much of a thing in Homecoming. Gay relationships also make people uncomfortable because its weird to see especially outside of America. That was why Love Simon bombed. They were represented in that movie but it wasnt supported. It never works coz they add in gay characters to be PC, then in the movie they reveal they are gay in a matter of fact way as if its no big deal and just normal but then in real life they always make a big deal out of it just to make headlines. Ooooh we have a gay Power Ranger....nobody cared movie flopped. They made Sulu gay in the Star Trek movie...George Takei didnt like it so that backfired. They made a big deal out of the gay moment with Josh Gad in BATB and said it was romantic but no it wasnt it was two seconds and was pointless. JK Rowling made Dumbledore gay randomly and the movie is ignoring it because nobody cares. Zia in JW was supposed to be gay but it was cut because nobody cares who is gay in a movie about dinosaurs. The MCU already has a gay character anyway with that woman from Jessica Jones. I'm aware of the LGBTQ characters Exist on the tv side. That's good, but it's not the movie side of MCU. Deadpool is pansexual and his movies did extremely well at the box office. Hell the second film had a lesbian couple! So there's no reason why Marvel Studios shouldn't put a LGBTQ character in a film, especially a starring role.

I technically agree with your overall premise but I think Kratos also has a point in that the MCU movies seem to be trying to stay away from focusing on romantic relationships in their films, at least the recent films. Jane has been chucked aside. There was extremely little romance in movies like BP, Dr. Strange, Ant-man, Spiderman, Ragnarok, CW, Winter Soldier, etc. Even in GotG the relationship between Starlord and Gamora was never really given much attention. And to be honest, I think it's great. Nobody likes a forced romantic relationship (thus the complaints against Thor and MOS). So if the MCU does indeed showcase LGBTQ characters, I hope they don't go back to forced romantic relationships just to emphasize that the character is LGBTQ... because that just seems like a copout. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I hope they don't shine a spotlight on it. Just keep it low key and allow it to develop naturally... as it should with any romantic relationship, not just non-hetero ones.

Not really love interests.
I think it was alluded to with the other Valkyrie that saved her.

Didnt they say Captain Marvel is muslim? They should have her meet up with one of these LGBTetc characters--a big fight.
Will Allah win? Will SJW liberty? Or will they find common ground to suspend their difference for a greater threat like some Nebraska Aryan militia led by Gary Busey.

Oh there's nothing bad about it, that's one thing I disagree with what Kratos said. I'm just saying I hope they don't force it just so they can say they have an LGBTQ character, in the same way I don't like it when they force a romantic relationship just so they can tick that checkbox. Hope that clarifies my stance.

Marvel with have to be careful how they do it though. North America and a couple of first-world countries might be open to openly LGBT characters but the greater majority of the world aren't. They'll need to start with smaller characters and slowly build up. If they go straight to a major character or show it too strongly it might backfire on them. Well, China doesn't even accept black people in movies yet, so... It'll be another five centuries before they're ready for LGBT characters! Seriously, read the Chinese reviews for BP. That country is racist AF!

LGBTQ people exist and have as much of a right to be represented in movies as much as straight people. But then the Thor movies got rid of Jane. Actually Portman got rid of Jane...she wanted out of the franchise before Dark World was filmed Did it? It made nearly 4 times it's budget, with a comparatively limited release Because it had a gay character? But no one cared...so why does it matter that there was one? How did it backfire? (Takei had no aversion to a gay character rather Sulu being gay, because it was not what Rodenberry intended). Did it flop? Was there a major uproar? (independent of those who used Takei's comments to justify their aversion) Who is "they". The makers of the film didn't make a big deal. The director mentioned that it was a "small moment" in the film, and even said he was sick of the reaction because it is such a tiny part of the film. The "they" in question were the ones that complained about the idea of a character being gay, both before and after the film was released. If as you say it was pointless, why care. I'm sure it meant something to some people, either pro or con.
