EDIT: I wanted to post this yesterday, but I couldn't find this article again.
In other Walt Disney news for the weekend, Solo: A Star Wars Story earned $4 million (-60%) after losing 844 theaters. That brings the Ron Howard-directed prequel’s domestic total to $202.2m. It will probably at least top the original (sans reissues or inflation) $209m theatrical gross of The Empire Strikes Back. You take your wins where you can find them.
So Solo might just catch up to Justice League, since it seems to have better legs.
Went for the 3rd time today. Small theater, maybe 25-30 people. One teen. Everyone else looked at least 30 or closer to my age (i was 17 when the original came out in 1977). Unlike the other 2 times which skewed younger, this one seemed more involved. Laughed at the jokes. Clapped at the end.
What after all, is a halo? It's only one more thing to keep clean.
After seven weeks, Solo is at $211.5 million, while Justice League was at $226.4 million. Solo will be in 315 theaters during its eighth week, while Justice League was in 518. So I'm going to stick with my original prediction that "Solo" will not beat "Justice League".
