@gerrydee 'I don’t know why anyone is surprised by Tavares meeting with all these teams. It’s the same thing that happens in minor hockey in Toronto when kids are 9 years old.'
Didn't see a new NHL thread soooo... yeah.
Tavares I'll say 70% staying with the Islanders, though a good 30% chance with the Leafs. He reminds me quite a bit of Joe Sakic, who paraded to success & Cups with the likes of Forsberg, Nolan, Ricci, Ozolinsh, & Roy. Similar situation if Tavares came to Toronto, captaining the likes of Matthews, Marner, Rielly, & Andersen. Islanders could promise more potential, the Leafs could hand him at age 27 right now a pathway to championships. I still think the Islanders because he appears to like being there, & having them literally build around him in the near future.

Blues will fail to win the Cup. Like sands through the hour glass... We call them the "Cubs of Hockey" which doesn't really apply anymore

It did annoy me a little bit with the whole "OMG! Vegas Golden Knights expansion team in the Finals!" thing
the Blues already did that, their first three years

Except that 9 year olds aren't offered untold millions of dollars to play hockey. Like any Leafs fan it would be nice to get him here, but at what price?

Apparently Carter Hart isn't ready yet to make his NHL Debut - still only 19 or so. Hopefully we get glimpses of him this upcoming year. He won some Canadian League goalie of the year the last two years.

Going waaaaaaay out on a limb here, but I predict that the Sabres will miss the playoffs.

I also think Tavares will stay with the Isles (Lamoriello as GM, Trotz as coach, things are looking up) but Tampa was one of the teams he talked to. If he goes there, that's the NHL modern day equivalent of a superteam; Tavares, Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, McDonagh, Vasilevskiy... ridiculous.

Former Calder winner Steve Mason now plays for the Habs after a trade. He's totally off the radar after such a promising start to his career.

Been hearing San Jose could be a real possibility, maybe 2nd only to the Islanders.

Have there been any discussions at all recently about ditching the 1 PT for an OT loss 'award' - i.e. everybody gets a medal mentality?

Fact is teams were playing not to lose when they were earning single points for a tie. They're still earning points for a tie, but the opposition can leap frog their 1 point with 2. This was all deliberated & hashed decades ago.
