A few more titles which I had a bit of a hard time "ignoring" out of my top 10 list:
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003) - PS2I remember back in 2001-02 all this talk about a PC game called Mad Max and words such as "Bullet time" being thrown around, but by then I was not much of a video gamer type, as my interest were at an all time low when it came to video games, however I did pick up Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne in summer of 2004 and played the hell out of it. I loved the gritty and noirish atmosphere, the music, the sound effects, the action, and of course the most important thing the fantastic plot that went on in all of it.
When I finally got around to play the original one from 2001, I ended up being somewhat a bit "disappointed", not unlike how I felt when starting out with GTA: Vice City (2002) and then moving on to GTA: 3 (2001) and only to end up as a big letdown.
Have not played The Fall of Max Payne for years now, but might do so in a not so long time as I remember having a blast whenever I do.
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (2005) - PS2I thought it should have ended with this one, as it was the perfect way of writing off one of the finest and most satisfying trilogies of the PS2 history books with, sadly it was not to be. 8 years later and more, a fourth game was to be released, Thieves in Time and this time Suckerpunch were no longer involved, and the story, characters and the great fun and charm of the originals were now long gone. Instead it felt more like some dumbed down fan made product and not the real deal. A shame, as they managed to screw up so many things and leave the fans off with a terrible "ending". But I just like to try as best as I can to ignore it.
Anyway, part three of the Sly Cooper franchise was a great game, not as close to perfection as the earlier ones but still I got a big kick out of it and loved how they had written in so many new characters.
The only downpart was that it felt a little too "rushed", as it sure was much shorter than Band of Thieves.
Still, I think it was an impressive follow up and one I still come back to every now and then.
The Warriors (2005) - PS2Had not seen the movie, but this video game was a great introduction and one which turned out to be one of the best and most impressive video game releases in 2005.
Loved that it features a whole new backside story of the Warriors and how they became the most hated gang in the whole of New York, and while some of the missions and controls were at times a bit frustrating, the music, atmosphere, action and the solid replay value makes it into a classic, i think.
Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando (2003) - PS2The second game of this action filled franchise and while not as solid as the third chapter, I still always come back to it as I think it is the second best in the series.
BloodRayne (2002) - PS2A pretty damn enjoyable hack and slash horror-action video release which I gotta be honest, only picked up because of the artwork and while it is not a great game, I still enjoyed playing it almost on a daily basis back in spring of 2003, specially a few hours before I should have gotten into bed.
I re-played it a few years ago, and sadly it had not held up that great.
But I guess it will probably go down more postively, at least if one compare it to the horrible movies that is.
Never played the sequel, but then again I never found it anywhere either.
