AGotta be top 20 family films for me. Solid mix of innocent & sandpaper humour alike, great fun & production value. Goodman is aces here. Backdrop of Key West during Cuban missile crisis is handled quite well, without glorifying it.

Massively underrated, this is a warm, disarming film with super performances and a lovely sense of time and place. The film within a film is both hilarious and believable as a B-movie of the time, and the juvenile characters are genuinely likeable. 8/10

6/10 Decently made but woefully short-sighted. Focusing on the teens and their angst over Cuba was NOT as interesting as John Goodman and his filmmaking associates. The teen actors are competent (especially liked the beatnik) but they should have made them the supporting characters and gave Goodman the main action. I wish there was more of the Mant! and Shook-Up Shopping Cart scenes.
