Check out at t 1:24:34 which is a controversial rant by 2 youtube friends of mine Ocpcommunications and Ramboraph4life urging audiences and studios to just let iconic horror franchises and beloved horror icons to just die and rest in peace and move on to make fresh brand new ones.
With comparisons to the Universal monsters of the 30s/40s/50s, slasher craze and crash of the 80s and the recent trend of sequelizing and remaking Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th (despite they with me like the 2009 remake and no sequel has happened in 10 years), Elm Street, Child's Play, Scream, Saw, Hellraiser, etc. and how they feel it's time to let these franchises and beloved horror icons to rest a peaceful death than to constantly bring them back in hope of new life/profit/old glory otherwise they are gonna be zombies
Make new horror icons that are fresh and new! it's how Michael Myers, Chucky, Freddy Krueger, Jigsaw, Ghostface, Jason Voorhees and Pinhead came to be as they were not copies of the universal monsters but unique in their own ways. Horror needs unique fresh icons again like take for example Annabelle she is the new Chucky, Not the same tired old ones force fed to new generations like they are still as cool as they were in the 80s 90s and early 2000s. They had their time in the sun and earned retirement from the genre, let them kick off their shoes to relax, bringing them back constantly is only gonna hurt their legacy and turn them into jokes. I know it is sad but it is true, it's time to move on.
No need for anymore Halloween sequels, terrible Hellraiser sequels, Don Mancini made crappy Child's Play sequels (i felt the series ended at 3), anymore poor Leatherface sequels/prequels (the last TCM worth a damn was 1990's 3 while 2003's remake was decent), the 15th Leprechaun movie, more Children of the Corn sequels etc. it's a dead horse already and they are beating it, sometimes dead is better and this video tells the truth and i'm standing by them.

When was the last time we ever saw another Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street film? Not since 2009/10, which is a long enough time.
That being said, I somewhat agree. However, that doesn't mean it's ever going to stop. Most horror movies nowadays don't have a principle icon. The closest we ever had was Annabelle, but even then, she just doesn't fall under that horror icon formula. Yeah she's pretty creepy, but that's it. No words spoken out of her to quote, nothing she does memorable because she can't move.

But Hollywood needs to find a fresh new horror icon and new franchise, just keep trying, just try like the two guys said.

No words spoken out of her to quote, nothing she does memorable because she can't move. I agree. I want to see more movies of 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' and 'Friday the 13th' too and I would love to see Lisa Wilcox return as Alice and have Robert Englund play one of her friends since he has sadly said he is too old to play Freddy now. Alice was the only person who beat Freddy twice and lived to tell the tale and I have said about 'Hellraiser' getting Kirsty back before and making a movie that continues on from 'Hellraiser 2' and ignores all of the other sequels and with 'Halloween' getting Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie and 'Child's Play' bringing back Andy and Kyle I wouldn't mind seeing them get back all the surviving major characters. A new 'Friday the 13th' should be easy if they can sort the legal problems out which AT&T might do when they buy out Time Warner and Kane Hodder has said he wants to play Jason again so I think they should get him back and have Tommy as the main star again. A lot of fans have been wanting to see characters like Alice and Tommy return so why not do it? With 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' Lisa has said in a few interviews she would love to play Alice one more time.
I can see where the OP is coming from with his posts and I agree with him that they need to come up with new names but here is the thing. They have had chance after chance to do that and they have failed and not making new movies of old franchises is going to make any difference 'cause it is not like there is a shortage of Horror movies coming out and new movies of 'Nightmare' and 'Friday' are going to stop them. There are heaps of new Horror movies coming out now but the problem is the writers just aren't coming up with anybody as popular as Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, Leatherface, Pinhead etc which is why I think they should bring back some of the franchises I mentioned along with some of the smaller ones from the 90s that were fairly popular like 'Candy Man' and 'Wishmaster.' If they want to reinvigorate the Slasher genre there are two words. A 'Hack/Slash' franchise could be awesome and take the slasher genre right back up to the top. Cassie Hack and Vlad are awesome characters and all my friends who read comic books love 'Hack/Slash' and have been wanting to see a movie adaption of it. Add Vampirella, Darkchylde and Monstress and we could have some great movies with characters who have already proven to be popular.

Exactly. Bring back old franchises and make the fans happy again. What's the sense in trying to create new icons when most end up being forgotten? Personally, I'd love to see a proper send-off to Alice in a good Nightmare sequel, unlike the mediocre Dream Child.

No way, i don't want their legacy to be hurt or stained and turned into jokes. These guys are right, bringing them back on film is only gonna hurt their legacy and turn them into jokes as some need to die a horrible death in favor of new franchises and make new icons.
I mean stuff like Tucker and Dale, Behind The Mask, Wolf Cop etc. those should had been released in mainstream theaters and not bringing back the dead corpses of already dead franchises like Elm Street, Halloween, Saw, Scream, Child's Play, Hellraiser and Texas Chainsaw Massacre plus The Collector movies are fresh new horror franchise and a new icon. And i agree with them on "if you are a fan of these characters or franchises and don't like what's been done to them in the past 20 or 15 years then don't go see the movie in the theater, why keep supporting this shit? i don't understand it's like wrestling fans are like yeh i'll keep watching Pay-per-views on RAW for shitty matches i don't like this but i'll keep watching STOP" as Saw and Ring came back as no one gave a shit as both flopped in theaters as it should send the message to Lionsgate and Paramount. Sometimes it's better to kill something than let it suffer! some of these franchises have become like wounded half-dead animals.
The last Child's Play film worth a damn was Child's Play 3 and the story ended! Chucky fell in the fan and died and time to move on, i feel the other Chucky films are crap no thanks to Don Mancini who hasn't written anything well done after CP 1 and 2 and Fitting Punishment on Tales from the Crypt and did alright on 3 but the series has been a continuing decline no thanks to him who is a cancer to the franchise. If people like the post 3 sequels fine i don't have an issue with that but that doesn't mean me and my 2 youtube friends have to as we think Bride is mediocre and Seed/Curse/Cult fuckin' suck ass! please Don Mancini no TV show just end the series and just go. Scream 4 was a flop at the box-office, no one gave a shit even me and the tv show was short live for me Scream ended with 3.
Halloween 2018 trailer didn't impressed me or my friends as it looks drab on the cinematography and all plus Jamie looks bored as she only did this for a paycheck as i'm bet she's actually sick of this and wants to do better roles. Bad remake of Elm Street, Jackie sucked badly as Freddy for you can't do it! Robert Englund is the ONE and ONLY true Freddy. But if your like me and the two guys and your sick of this shit, stop supporting it and that's how your gonna send the message across and give them a hint. If you want to see it then just wait on netflix or rent it, which both are alot cheaper than paying for a movie ticket which said Ramboraph4life and i agree with him.
Me and them don't want to see studios make a comedy with Harold and Kumar meeting Jason, Freddy, Chucky and Leatherface to make it like Abbot and Costello meet the monsters. That should not be the next thing! i agree the slashers even Pinhead i mentioned are gonna become jokes like the monsters in the Abbot and Costello movies and we are sick of this. These guys are very honest and truthful reviewers who are smart/honest and know their stuff as i stand by them and some stand by them too! we don't want these franchises to become like the Children of the Corn series, Leprechaun or Witchcraft. Even at one time after Jason Lives, one person thought of having Jason meets Chong and Cheech as that would had been far fetched. I liked 2009's remake of Friday but it's been 10 years since plans for a sequel and i thought Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 remake was decent. The last Halloween worth a damn was H2O and that was 20 years ago as that SHOULD had been the last one, Michael Myers was beheaded by Laurie! end of story, Resurrection does NOT exist for me or anyone as there was the stupid thing of having an imposter which does not happen in my view and Michael was THERE in H2O, he's dead period. Too bad they made Michael into a joke with Resurrection and Zombie's remake with it's sequel and almost as bad as Halloween 5 which sucked a bag of crap.
I'm very happy Elm Street second remake is cancelled because the franchise is now DEAD and been dead after Freddy vs Jason which i enjoyed for Englund's last performance as Freddy and now it's a dead horse. Elm Street looked at the bottom line after the 2010 remake flopped and some fans want the series to just end, now New Line is focusing on new franchises like The Conjuring which is a fresh new horror franchise and The Nun will be a new icon like Annabelle as they are first attempts at making mainstream new icons also adapting Stephen King books on the big screen as Conjuring should give the studio message to make new horror icons/franchises to let Freddy rest in peace to live on in merchandise, physical media, comics and novels to video games than to become a joke on the big screen again.
Their comparisons to the Universal monsters and overkill on each film with sequels (Bride was the only worthwhile sequel in the universal monster films) until the monsters became jokes and being ran into the ground is spot on to making them see the bottom line. You gotta know when to stop studios!
I agree with them that the beloved modern horror icons (Freddy, Michael, Leatherface, Jason, Chucky, Ghostface, Jigsaw and Pinhead) are being whored out by studios for a quick buck and being whores as sloppy seconds. Their comparisons to the slasher boom of the 80s is spot on with the rise and fall of it.
I agree with them why continue to stain or hurt their legacies? we don't understand, is it just laziness? i agree it's crazy when things like Cult of Chucky gets praise and getting reviewers to say "it's great" all that does is completely kill the franchise, i mean no need for me and Chucky won with a stupid cheat code. I agree with the guys on with Ramboraph saying "Don't studios ever think clearly? then Ocp says "No! but sometimes they look at the bottom line and seems it's more overkill" as i agree it's overkill. I agree with them for Hollywood to stop digging up these already dead franchises and characters out of their graves then dusting them off, propping them to throw them into new movies and acting if they were as cool as they were in the 80s/90s/early 2000s if they were fresh or as popular on the big screen as they were in the 80s/90s/early 2000s. I agree and if your gonna try something new, then just try and it's not too much to ask to actually give a damn to make new horror icons/new horror franchise on the big screen in the mainstream to put an effort into something new and if they are successful then they'll reward the studios. There's already been too many sequels to the franchises i mentioned! there were enough stories told. It's better to let these icons and their franchise retired from the big screen to slumber in peace to live on through books, comics, physical media like collector's edition blu-rays. streamings of the old movies, video games and merchandise than continue to stain/hurt their legacy into jokes on the big screen. I agree on hang it up they had a good run (well sometimes) because at this point they are hurting things plus to channel the budget/energy to create new horror icons/new horror franchises that are fresh/today and to give it a shot. Yes, try and give it a shot filmmakers and if your horror film with ideal new icon is successful at the box-office then you'll reward the studios, try to do something like Rise of Leslie Vernon or Tucker and Dale or Wolf Cop. There had been some original cinematic horror icons in the last decade like The Creeper, Victor Crawley from Hatchet or Captain Splauding as those are fine attempts who at least tried just like Jigsaw back in the 2000s to give it a shot. The Purge is an ok try at a horror franchise but no icon yet for recent Anabelle or The Nun are fine attempts at new horror icons and i like that, just give it a shot Hollywood with the success of the Conjuring as they gave it a shot, even The Babadook gave us a shot at a new original horror icon.
I agree, try try again with more new mainstream horror icons/franchises and why do you think the horror icons from the 70s/80s/90s/early 2000s i mentioned before exist? as i agree they weren't copies of the universal monsters but were fresh in their times on the big screen. We just don't want to see these franchises/icons on the big screen which are already dead to began with become like reanimated zombies that need to be shot in the head so they won't be shuffling around anymore seeking new life. Being a fan of these characters/franchises is like having a beloved relative who’s been on life support for years and you’ve accepted they’re gone so you’re just waiting for someone to realize they need to pull the plug on them. While not a horror franchise and not a horror icon but a beloved sci-fi trilogy and icon is Back to the Future, Look at Back to the future as an example of utilizing the brand in ways that don't mess with the legacy it left. They show enormous respect to their fanbase coming out with different merchandise and apparel and media over the years. They know you can't recreate the magic they had so they let the franchise live on through the fans love of the trilogy. I agree with the 2 guys that i know it hurts but me and Mike (aka Ocpcommunications) love these characters and that's why you gotta let them go to let them rest in peace and don't need to be treated like Robocop in 1987's movie when he had painful memories in that scene where he is struggling. As Jud Crandall in Pet Sematary book/movie once said "Sometimes dead is better!" and he is right.
I think Hollywood needs to adapt Hack and Slash and can make that cult horror comic book icon into a fun throwback to retro horror films for the big screen and can be a new horror icon on film outside the comics.

But the studio executives got to have money!!!!! I know but they need to know when to stop and end plus to put those beloved horror icons to rest in favor of new horror franchises and new horror icons, i mean let the independent filmmakers show them a horror film they made with a new ideal icon and have the executives distribute it in theaters and can be a hit like The Conjuring for New Line and wallah it was a hit series and created new icons plus audiences rewarded studios for the new icons.

Studios sometimes LOOK AT THE BOTTOM LINE like for example Elm Street 2010 remake flopped at the box-office and hated by fans, they were trying to do another remake but decided to look at the bottom line as the franchise IS DEAD and continue to do Conjuring movies instead. Sometimes dead is better.
