They really should have done a stand-alone film for Thanos to set up The Infinity War.
That's how they did in the comics universe with the Thanos Quest.
A film where - even tho he's not the hero - he is the protagonist... where you kinda are rooting for him as he out maneuvers the current holders of the Infinity Gems.
Sometimes, it's cool to root for the bad guy.

A supervillain movie would be a nice change of pace for once in the MCU.

Remember that Darth Vader film that we couldn't have lived without? Remember that Hannibal Lector film before Silence of the Lambs? I loved that Joker film too. I mean those villains would have been nothing without those solo films to set them up.

Well.... We'll see. Sarcasm only works when it's applicable.
The Thanos Quest wasn't an origin story... It wasn't a prequel of any kind.... It was it's own story... That served as the start of the overall story.

Unnecessary. They're already planting the seeds across various movies. An entire movie dedicated towards Thanos would over expose him.

Unnecessary. They're already planting the seeds across various movies. An entire movie dedicated towards Thanos would over expose him. Well... "They shoulda" kind of implies that they should have done something in lieu of the thing that they did/are going to do. Even then.. So far, he's had about 5 minutes of screen time.. Being over exposed really isn't that big of a threat.

The "shoulda" is still unnecessary.
The reason there's no threat of him being overexposed is because there is no movie about him. He's the bigger scope villain. Like the Emperor from Star Wars. He only gets a mention in Star Wars. Then a short scene in Empire. Until he finally takes a more prominent role in Return of the Jedi.
Thanos' smaller appearances are far more effective than a full blown movie. It keeps him mysterious and doesn't dilute his presence.
There really is no reason to have a Thanos prequel when Infinity War will no doubt revolve around him and his quest for the Infinity Stones.

I'm just suggesting that they follow the precedent that was already set in the comics... The only real difference was that Thanos had a well-known history in the comics... and he wasn't being "over exposed", then, either. But.. Here's to differences of opinion.
