This used to be a lively board on the old IMDb. Since the new season starts tomorrow, here is the thread in case anyone wants to comment. We know the term "Star" is used loosely for some of the contestants, but they are all people trying something very different and out of their comfort zone, most of them. So let's try to be kind.
Let's hear what you think.

Glad you started this thread. I posted on the DWTS board on IMDb from time to time. I was Paul_Ke on there.

I pity the fool who doesn't watch this season.

I don't see the appeal in watching a bunch of washed-up, has-been celebrities dance.

Hi Paul, good to see you here! Anymore for a few seasons now, the reason I watch is the pros, more than the celebs. I would just miss Sharna, Emma, Sasha, too much, and this season it's Maks & Peta. And the nonstop glitz and glamour. I keep saying I should stop but every season, I am there!

I pity the fool who doesn't watch this season. Waited two hours to see Mr. T and was disappointed. Chris Kattan's Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck impression was more entertaining.

These days the bar has risen, we don't get nearly as many celebs who are outright lousy on DWTS. As for last night, I gave some votes to Bonner & Sharna, and to Nick & Peta. Nick was surprising in his potential, of the 4 Bachelors who have been on DWTS he is the best.
Rashad was great and I am so glad Emma has a contender. That said, the first night is a way for them to break the ice and dance live, and scores aren't to be taken to heart.
Simone was great but did anyone think she wouldn't be?

I really enjoy this show and I will watch this season like I have watched most of the others. Being honest, I mostly watch for the female pro dancers.
However, this season literally has 7 contestants that I have NEVER heard of! I don't follow bull riding or baseball and I only casually follow football. I never watched Glee or the Bachelor, or real housewives of wherever. Now, I have heard of 5th Harmony but I didn't realize it's members were actual individual people. I thought that they were interchangeable clones that were bred on some farm somewhere and just got replaced when they wore out like The Pussycat Dolls and Menudo.

I always know about half of the cast, any season. It never matters who I take to or don't. I don't watch the Real Housewives or follow sports. Seems like this season I am voting by pros! Emma has Rashad, and he will go far.
I really miss Derek and Mark. The show is quieter without them.

I'm rooting for Normani and Simone this season.

They're both so phony.

Sorry to see Chris Kattan go if no other reason than I love to see Witney dance every week

Sorry to see Chris Kattan go if no other reason than I love to see Witney dance every week I guess that leaves Mr. T and then Charo or vice versa.

So...it wasn't that Mandy Moore who guest-judged.

When Maksim/Heather Morris exited early that was the biggest surprise i have seen on the show in years as typically you can tell about who's going to leave but she was too good to leave that early as i was quite surprised and you could even tell Maksim thought that was some BS which i can't blame em as there is no way they should have exited that early as they should have at least make the Top 5, if not Top 4. Lucybefore the season started i assumed Simone was a ringer as you just knew she was going to be one of the best there (as all of those gymnast always do well on the show), if not the best, but i think Normani should have the edge as she just seems to click better with Val than Simone does with Sasha in general. but either is capable of winning. i have not seen this Monday's episode yet but i would imagine David Ross probably went home as his likability got him as far as he did but in the end the others are a better all around dancer and i figure he's either out in 4th place or 3rd at the very most. but since it's a popularity contest it's hard to say who will finish higher between Normai/Simone as i would imagine Val is probably the more popular pro between the him and Sasha but being Simone was in the Olympics not all that long ago that could give her a boost. but if you forced me to guess how it plays out ill say... 1.Normani (i have to give her the edge personally because she's got better chemistry with Val than Simone does with Sasha. but i am sure both are capable of being top notch in general. for me personally i hope Normani wins to as between chemistry with their pro partner/dancing ability she's got to be the best of those left overall.) 2.Simone (but she could easily end up winning as i would not bet against her) 3.Rashad (it's possible he places higher but if that happens i would not be surprised if i overestimated Normani and Normani could end up being 3rd as i just can't see Simone not being within the Top 2 given her Olympics stuff not all that long ago so she should be still in viewers mind. but all-in-all i prefer Rashad gets 3rd place.) 4.David Ross (his luck surely must run out soon as i have not seen Monday's (May 15th) episode yet but i would have to assume he's going home. if not, he's a 3rd place at best as he's clearly the all around weakest dancer left but it's his likability that carried him this far.) p.s. i actually was watching The X Factor back when she(Normani) was on there as if i recall correctly Simon just bunched them together and made a group and apparently they are having at least some decent success i imagine. ck100It's more about the eye candy of the pros (the females in my case since i am a guy) and watching the judges and some of the contestants are good as if you have seen the show, which i have since early 2007 to date, you can see there is a general pattern with the contestants in that some you can tell won't last and there always seems to be at least one of those ringer contestants (the ones who you know won't be going home anytime soon even before you see them dance) etc. you even have a fun contestant once in a while which this years fun contestant is David Ross. at the end of the day... i would rather watch Dancing with the Starts and some other reality types of shows easily over the general comedy variations they put on the major networks which i would likely get bored of very fast as once you get used to watching quality movies etc you just can't watch any of those dime-a-dozen types of shows they put on there. DanaShelbyChanceyYeah, i remember your name from there.

Hi, m! You are so correct in all you say about the show. I can't understand how some call it "garbage" because there is real artistry on this show, some of these pros are among the best, most accomplished dancers in the world. And the contestants are learning a valuable skill.
As we know now, Simone is toast. Gosh that feels wrong. Emma & Sasha wanted to be in the final 3 together and travel to NYC the next day after the finale. I guess Sasha could still go with Emma! I switched my votes from Rashad to Normani last night. Rashad didn't need me, he was making the finals no question. Normani is just great.
About this season specifically, the lack of Derek & Mark is painful. They were the glue that held this show together. Much as I love the other pros, the innovations and just sheer star quality of these 2, which is now missing, is palpable. I know some Derek haters are steaming but it's true!
