The news is already making headlines, for the wrong reasons that mirror the backlash over GHOST IN THE SHELL. I get some of the concerns behind such complaints, but beyond a certain point she's just acting.

The outrage is part of the PR. They do not make films unless it fits liberal ideological interests. So this story was selected precisely because it has a transgender element (there have been many women gangster leaders who were not transgender). There is no other reason to make it than to promote the transgender element--but they know that using a real transgender person would turn off audiences.
