I just finished it (for those who haven't, the final episode has a mid-credits and post-credits scene). Literally one of the best shows I've ever seen. I'm having a hard time deciding if I liked it more than BIG LITTLE LIES, but I guess I should wait until I watch that show's 2nd season.

I wouldn't say it is one of the best shows I have ever seen but I really enjoyed it too and would definitely watch it again if it returned for a second season but sadly the show's producer, Marti Noxon recently said the chances of 'Sharp Objects' getting a second season was somewhere between never say never and next to impossible so I haven't got my hopes up too high but I am hoping it returns and fans can convince the network to give it another chance. With that being said I am very interested in where they would go with a second season and if they always planned on continuing it or it was only meant to be a one season show. I haven't read the novel it was based on so I don't know where the story goes after the final episode but if it doesn't return I will read it.

I haven't read the book either, but it was listed as a miniseries. Therefore, even before I started watching it, I knew it would adapt the entire book. True, the same thing happened with BIG LITTLE LIES... and I wasn't very happy when they announced a 2nd season. While there was an open end, I felt closure. Same with SHARP OBJECTS. Actually, SHARP OBJECTS focused much more on the mystery of "Who did it?" so why bother continuing?

Good acting, good editing and great atmosphere. It was also pretty faithful to the book.

A weird show, the first 7 episodes are incredibly slow, while the last episode with the big reveal feels incredibly rushed and not very convincing.

Haven’t tried it. Felt kind of put out by Gone Girl so the fact that it’s the same author or whatever makes me more wary than excited. It is nothing like Gone Girl which for me is a bad thing. I'm in the exact same boat. For me, Gone Girl was witty and captivating. This is the exact opposite of that. Takes itself as seriously as the plague, and dry to boot. I'm wondering which is the better representation of Gillien Flynn as a writer.
