The Other Side
What are the chances this episode gets remotely good in the last few minutes?

And the answer is 0. And to make things worse they stretched out the ep a few minutes longer as has become the norm.

I feel like nothing happened. Half of the episodes this season have been filler

The worst part was that the characters of Sasha/Rosita and Maggie/Daryl were working on emotional scenes that for the audience happened months ago. We're over it. There was no resonance with their scenes.
On a side note, given the randomness of modern TV, I started thinking we'd somehow end up with Sasha and Rosita making out while waiting for Negan to show up. (Besides being a boring scene it was amusingly bad-- they're there to kill Negan but aren't looking out the window at all times to, you know, be able to see him.)

I feel like nothing happened. Half of the episodes this season have been filler To be more accurate, half the run time of the episodes combined has been filler. There's stuff in each episode that could be used to tell the story more compellingly. I bet if someone only watched the season/midseason premiers and midseason/upcoming season finales, as well as 2 competently edited compilation episodes (1 for each half) of everything else, that you'd have no problem following the story or getting the emotional impact.

There was no resonance with their scenes. This. Daryl's tears were a year too late for anyone to give a flying fuck. We're talking about a scene that's supposed to be emotional, based on two character deaths that were telegraphed last year, with a death scene that was stretched from the April S6 finale to the October S7 premiere, so that when it happened absolutely no one was surprised. Glenn was my favorite character on TWD, and they bungled the deaths so badly that it didn't even register for me when he died. So why would they think that we would care now, in March of 2017, in a fucking Angela Kang episode packed with sentimental bullshit and soft, saccharine piano riffs?

I had a problem with the whole setup. You build up the appearance of Negan for what, a half season? He then appears and does what everyone expects him to-- kill someone. The emotionality of the moment is built up in the season 6 finale and bam, wait a few months to find out who. So now what, viewers are supposed to get back into the same emotional/mental state with the reveal? And to top it off, they don't give us all the character reaction until last night, nearly 6 months later. Am I really supposed to care that Daryl feels guilty and Maggie forgives him?

I thought Glenn was dead so how did he deliver Tequila to that jerk guy? Was it a flashback?

Ugh. I've tried to watch this episode twice and fell asleep both times. One whole season, one year of build-up for the next season? There is no way the "payoff" will be worth the build-up. Everyone is thinking, "Just wait until season 8"! Think it will be non-stop excitement and action? WRONG! This is TWD....There will be a few action episodes with lots of filler crammed in, just like always.

I find myself wondering why the writers feel the need to include so much filler.

Watching TWD last night I had a crazy thought - I was thinking that there is a possibility that Rick may be killed off. Yes yes I hear you shouting at me saying 'NOOOOO, DON'T BE STUPID, THEY WON'T DO THAT'. I couldn't help thinking it though, they may be intending to kill Rick off as we are seeing less of him and so many of the other characters and getting to know their stories etc. Maybe they are setting it all up in advance. I'm probably way off the mark I know. As I said though it was just a crazy, dumbass thought. These episodes are just so BORING though, come on writers get it together or don't bother. I will NOT stop watching this show though, I'm determined to see it through. By the way I cannot stand Rosita, she is such a BITCH!! She needs a good slap and i'd be happy to do it. Not seeing enough of Rick, not seeing enough of Negan. Ok rant over lol.

Well, they are not gonna kill Rick off, (until maybe the final season/episode). This show is not going to drastically deviate from the precious comic. I wanted to see them do the Whisperers story, but now I don't know I have the patience to go an extra 2 years to get through that. At this point, I just want to get through "All-Out-War". Maybe they should end it after that? To go into the time jump and the Whisperers, you are looking at least at 2 to 3 more years.

Sadly, AMC will do it if it means squeezing every last dime from the TWD franchise. This show is not going to end gracefully with any sort of dignity. It's going to get gradually more pathetic as it sheds viewers, and limp to a wretched conclusion. There have already been articles this year about how AMC has had to adjust ad rates because they weren't delivering the ratings they promised for TWD. A 30-second spot during TWD costs something like $550,000, which are numbers usually only seen on major NFL broadcasts or top-rated network shows like The Big Bang Theory. So yeah...that's not going to last much longer.

Bring back Frank Darabont I say! He not only created TWD but he directed the ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT pilot. Bring him back and Inject some much needed life into this limp series. It needs it, badly!
