I've yet to see the 1971 version. Worth checking out?

I’ll see it—I love the time period—though I’m afraid that they’ll go the “these women were really feminists in 1587!” route. Sigh.
Now I’m trying to remember whether it was Mary, Queen of Scots, or Bloody Mary whom John Dickson Carr called a baby-faced blonde… Which was was a blonde?
BTW: there’s also Mary of Scotland (1936), a John Ford-directed entry with Katie Hepburn in the title part. I haven’t seen it—though I’d like to—but Sarris says that the film is so slanted toward Mary’s side that it actually becomes amusing.
EDIT: Found the answer to the now-crossed-out question above. It was [Bloody] Mary Tudor he called a baby-faced blonde, Mary [Queen of Scots] Stuart he called an ugly old hag. OK, that’s cleared up.

Well that's not a bad trailer. But that one line about swords not being for show was eye-rolling.

I thought the trailer was pretty bad.
Also why the fuck do Mary and Elizabeth have a scene together in the trailer, they never met each other during their lifetime. And yes i know this is a movie and not a documentary but i can`t help getting annoyed with historical inaccuracies .
Still i probably watch this movie as both of these women are women of history who i find fascinating.
