Oh, there are people who believe Johson should never work again? that changes everything. What a crime that some random people on the internet who font hire directors think he should never work again. are you his agent or something? I’ve already said that I don’t really care for Johnson. My point is that people are taking their dislike for a movie too personally, to the point where they are treating a director as a pariah who deserves to be shunned. That’s creepy is what I’m saying. No, they’re saying he’s a garbage director who made a garbage movie. why would you even care if someone thinks he should be “shunned”? Are you his mom? His girlfriend? The way you take this so “personally” is “creepy”. (am I doing it right?)

Death threats? Who? How? I’ve received “death threats” on the internet....who hasn’t? You guys are such drama queens. As far as I know Tran never said she was bullied off of Twitter, that’s just what the media blared. If she actually said that’s why she left I never saw it. but you want so badly to be victims, everyone is “toxic”or “problematic”. A 13 YO telling you to “die in a fire” is a “death threat” lol. if they really recieved “death threats” why weren’t the police called? the media tells you something and you instantly believe it, which is just dumb. So be sure to buy lots of SW tickets and toys because if they keep antagonizing the fan base and making SJW garbage nobody else will. You do realize I don’t give a shit about Star Wars, right? I don’t buy merchandise and I don’t care for Disney’s insistence on releasing a new film every year. Nice strawman, though. Oh, yeah, I can totally tell you don’t care.

You are aware that I have stated on several occasions that I don’t care for the direction Disney is taking Star Wars, and that I think they need to give the franchise a break, right? Feel free to look through my posting history.

There are millions of people on the internet talking about SW. you’re really going to worry about what strangers do on the internet? why are you taking it so personally?

You worrying about Ryan Johnson isn’t creepy at all and clearly shows how little you care. i just hope he can handle all those “death threats”from 13 year olds on Twitter.

I didn’t like Rogue One, but you don’t see me obsessively attacking Gareth Edwards or any of the other people who were involved in the movie.

He’s a grown man who can deal with things himself. I made this thread because I was simply expressing the opinion that people need to get over their dislike for a movie. Not liking a movie is fine, but don’t act like a spoiled brat over it.

I think it’s weird and creepy that you’re this defensive of a freaking Hollywood director. Are you dating him or something?

Did you miss the part of my post where I specifically said that I wasn’t calling out any specific person on this board? I was making an observation based on what I’ve seen from the Internet response to a stupid movie at large. You're really sounding like like a broken record. How many times do I have to say that I don’t give a shit about Rian Johnson. He can fall off a building and I would have no real reaction to it. I was simply saying that the fans need to be better than this, and that a stupid movie is not worth obsessing over. How is that difficult for you to comprehend?

I’ve only seen it once, and I don’t particularly have any interest in seeing it again. I just think that it’s bizarre for people to continuously obsess over something they hate to the point where they act like spoiled children who embody the worst stereotypes about geek culture.

the reactions at Lucasfilm are not so much those of a private company vis-a-vis disgruntled customers, but rather that of a dictatorship villifying it's rebelling subjects as bullies, sexists and right-wingers - check the news about D Ortega in Nicaragua today, was he talking about his people or SW fans, the lines blur... Seriously, Johnson is not as much of an hack as JJ Abrams, he essentially now pays the price for what was messed up in Ep VII already by ruining the OT character, introducing badly written new characters, and rehashing the storyline. And yet, Johnson shares the blame by adding insult to injury. He and his ilk are fuelling the flames and acting unprofessionally. The media strategy they pursue is mindbogeling. George Lucas must turn in his grave, really. What are you basing Johnson not being a hack on exactly? All I’ve seen of his is Looper and TLJ and I thought both of those were awful, especially TLJ. TLJ comes across as bad fan fic crossed with a Mad Magazine parody. When 10 AT-ATs are standing there blasting Luke? How is that not laughable? When they have a giant laser shooting a giant door how is anyone supposed to take that seriously? Space Leia? Freaking Rose Tico Lol? That stupid “your mamma” joke? Johnson is an absolutely a hack based on TLJ. Depends on your def of "hack". RJ at least tries to create something new and creative, but his kind of subversion tend to lead into pervesion rather than to originality.
His Breaking bad episodes are good to great. Brick was solid to good. Looper was solidly mediocre. TLJ was mediocre with some fine cinematography. Did not see Brothers Bloom.
So far he tried to be an original filmmaker (too much), but in the end he is just a mediorcre writer without genuin ideas and some solid craftmanship as director.
That is not what a hack is. He is an artist, just not a very good one.

I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT RIAN JOHNSON. I just think that people need to move on, because a stupid director is not worth obsessing over, and that people are just making the fan base look bad by acting like Rian Johnson is anything other than a stupid director for hire. Seriously, how are you not getting this through your head?

All I know about you is you’re fine with calling people “creepy” and telling them how they can react but if someone does it to you you sure don’t like it. I think the way you react to people’s reactions is “ridiculous” and “creepy”. Really, I have no idea why anyone outside of a Disney shareholder or Johnson would care about the reaction Johnson got. He’s a jerk who made a terrible movie.

Give me a break, if he wanted to create something new SW, especially the second movie in a trilogy story, isn’t the place to do it. and just from a filmmaking standpoint TLJ was awful. Tone wise it was all over, it had entire stories and characters that weren’t needed. I mean...he kills Admiral Ackbar offscreen basically but we have a whole plot thread around a purple haired space lady nobody knows or cares about? Stuff like giant laser cannons to open giant doors don’t make much sense in a universe where they havee spaceships that can destroy planets, nor do “your momma” jokes. His SJW politics didn’t help. But it was just a garbage movie. I would absolutely call him a hack based on TLJ. 100%.
