For some reason it does not seem to happen before that.
You would think if alien abduction was true there would be stories about people being abducted by aliens before 1960. I mean i know there are a few but most of the stories are after 1960.

Because of 1950s SciFi films. (And horror films for that matter. A lot of 50s horror menaces had some connection to outer space, so that they were aliens in some sense.) And that all grew out of technological advances, some of which were causing horrors--the atomic bomb, and the subsequent space race that arose from those technological advances.

Pretty much the same reason why ghost was such a big thing in the Victorian era. I mean not because of movies but book.

Betty and Barney Hill IS one of the ONLY abductions that I believe can GENUINELY be true (MAY BE THE ONLY ONE). The rest or the vast majority of the rest are hoaxes, night terrors (or sleep/night paralysis), or the person IS a NUTCAKE.

Narratives around unidentified flying objects and "aliens" have historically had a tendency to mimic the latest goings-on in technology and popular culture. So when you get stories about faeries and "wee people" abducting folks and taking them to other realms for a while, that's just an earlier version of the same story. We've just replaced elves with aliens, so it has gone on before, just with different dressing.

Yes, I've seen that mentioned on some tv show or read it in an article.

They were hungry for a nice sweet meat.

Before then, they only had their equivalents of horse and buggy that kept them bound to their own planets. Finally, they became technologically advanced enough to send spaceships to other planets, including Earth.
