Thanks. He did have a feud going with Flair. Which unfortunately not enough footage is out there of it. They were also a tremendous tag team in the late 70's. 2 time former NWA world tag team champions. And the feud with Piper was pretty legendary as well. dog collar match at one of the first Starcades with Piper? plus when he was a singles wrestler in WWF - his wars with Santana for the IC strap were legendary. then tag team champ with Beefcake - hell I even enjoyed Rhythm and Blues with Honkey his shoots on youtube are hysterical (in a depressing kind of way) Yeah that was a classic match at the first starcade. They also went around the horn doing those dog collar matches at the house shows. from what I heard and I don't know if it's true, when Piper left for the WWF soon after that, he was still feeling the effects of all those dog collar matches and that's why they made him a manager for the first few months of his run. So that way he had time to recuperate. His matches against Santana were really good. I was fortunate enough to witness a couple of them live. I also enjoyed the Dream team. Rhythm and blues I don't remember as clearly for some reason. I think I liked them but I would have to go back and watch some of their matches.

I mean. Cool is inherently subjective, but the closest thing to an objectively correct answer -- in terms of all time -- has gotta be Ric Flair, right? Not 2018 Flair, but back in the day. Innit?

Had I grown up during Flair's prime in the NWA he probably would have been my favorite wrestler ever. However I grew up in the 90's and he was already and old man and a caricature of himself. I remember finding him to be so damn stupid stripping down in the ring and delivering elbow's to his clothes and constantly woo'ing. I just hated him so much. Another guy I'd consider to be cool would be Jake Roberts. Only him during his prime run in WWF though.

Yeah, and it's interesting you would add Roberts as a second since they both had a -- a really far fall from their peaks, albeit a more gradual one for Flair. Both those guys were the fucking mang back in the day. And that was back when the guys weren't going back to the hotel to play Xbox after the show; dudes were rock stars and true outlaws. Someone else mentioned Piper, and he was another guy who came to mind along the lines of being really fucking cool in his prime. He was over at the level I'd always hope to see Punk achieve -- and Piper was smart enough, unlike Punk, to realize he was a bigger act than the world title and didn't need it, so that's an extra layer of cool to me. To bring it back to the OP, that's one reason I find Scott Hall to be by far the coolest of the Kliq, because he was never a mark for any of it except the money and the lifestyle it could afford him.

If I were to rank members of The Kliq in terms of 'coolness' it would be: 1. Scott Hall 2. Kevin Nash 3. Shawn Michaels 4. Pac 5. HHH Hall or Razor Ramon either persona he had just seemed cool. Diesel was never cool but Kevin Nash I found to be so. While HBK is my favorite of all time I don't associate the term cool with him as he always tended to ham and cheese things up. However I'd consider him to be cooler than Pac who always seemed like just a stooge but is probably an awesome hang. HHH always seemed like he tried too hard to be viewed as cool and as a badass. I mean just his WrestleMania entrances lately with the motorcycles and such seems like he's trying too hard. Plus he's corporate now and not a whole lot of corporate people are cool.

I don't disagree with any of what you wrote, but I might be tempted to swap Pac and Shawn. I mean, HBK is my all-time favorite act, but like you said he never really had his finger on the pulse of cool, whereas one could argue that (very briefly in like 1997/98) Waltman kind of did. You couple that with his longtime rep as like a legit tough guy and just the fact that all these great workers of his time -- plus Hunter, lol -- wanted him around, wanted him to sell for them and work programs with them. People talk about HBK being like a small guy for the business, and that's true but Waltman is an ACTUAL small dude. And he just seems so much more down to earth on podcasts and stuff. So I dunno. Not a huge distinction, but just my two cents. Hunter is definitely dead last though.

HBK at least had a dickishness/edginess to him in the late 90's DX run. That was his peak of "coolness". Sean Waltman as a person though in real life I'd definitely think is cooler than Shawn. I am just going based on the characters they showed us on television. But yeah, HHH is easily dead last. The rest of The Kliq partied and HHH was just the guy that drove them around from gig to gig. In terms of podcasts and interviews Nash and Pac are two of the best to listen to.

This is interesting. I'd definitely rank Hall and Nash #1 and #2 respectively. HBK 'used to be cool' - then as he got older turned into a giant dork. Not 'Dad Dork' - but just and over the top unbearable cornball. I'd probably go: 1. Hall 2. Nash 3. Trips 4. HBK 5. Waltman (could go in the ring but always found his mic skills cringe worthy - despite the 4 Horseman / nwo parody one of the funniest things I've seen in wrestling with Waltman portraying Flair)

The whole f'ing show
ROB VAN DAM
WWE was prepared to make him the face of the company in 2006 and he was the first wrestler to hold the WWE and ECW Heavyweight Belts simultaneously. Several times he successfully retained each Championship in back to back shows. Sadly RVD was arrested along with his buddy Sabu for speeding and was arrested for possession of Hashish. Both wrestlers were suspended for a month and RVD was forced to drop both titles. If not for a nosy Ohio highway patrolman, Rob could have had a much different WWE career.
